getting from LGA to Pier 88!
I need to get from LGA to the NYC Passenger Terminal at Pier 88 on September 21st (around 10:30 am) to catch a cruise.
Could you please tell me what the charge is for two passengers between LGA and Pier 88?
Thank You
Angelia...any cheap ways to get there??? ideals????

I've never taken that exact trip from LGA, but I would guess it would be about $30 at that time of day. There aren't really any good, cheap options from LGA. The city bus has no room for luggage, and the super shuttles will be just as expensive for two people as a cab, and take twice as long. I would take a cab, and ask the driver to cross the park at 86th. Traffic moves MUCH faster on the west side of Manhattan, and by crossing up high you avoid midtown traffic too. Don't let him convince you to take the FDR--it is always backed up.

Rather than going through traffic in the city, I would suggest the bridge to the Henry Hudson and straight down to the pier. It would be much easier to take the highway than streets through Manhattan, and I agree that the cost will be around $30.
It's a nice ride downtown, you will see Riverside Church, Columbia University, Grant's Tomb as you drive down the Henry Hudson.
Have a great time on your trip.

The trip as outlined by Tweedy might be able to be done in 30 minutes or so but it will cost more than $30. You are adding at least five miles to the trip (5 miles is $7.50 additional). It is not the way to go. Further you can't see Grant's Tomb or Columbia U. from the highway and the only thing you will see of Riverside Church is the top and you have to know when and where to look.

It's a short ride from LaGuardia into Manhattan unless there's lots of traffic and then the cab meter goes up. I would suggest you make prior arrangements with a car service like Tel-Aviv (1-800-222-9888)or Carmel. You'll get a flat rate, a much more comfortable car and will know what the cost is. Go to Telavivlimo.com and print out their $3 off coupon. I've used them many times and prefer a sedan rather than a taxi.

The car service mentioned above charges $27 from LGA to Manhattan plus tip and toll. Final cost will be in the $35 range. If the pick up is between 2:45 pM and 7 PM there is an addtional $5 charge. You will be advised to call the car service, for pickup, as soon as you get your luggage. The pick up could be in 5 minutes or it could be longer. It will depend on where the nearest available car is located in reference to the pick up point. A taxi will cost less and the wait for a taxi is usually no more than 5 minutes. A taxi is still the best way to go
