Getting AWAY from NYC (can you believe it?)
My husband and I are trying to plan a long weekend away from the city with another couple (our best friends) to celebrate our 30th birthdays. We want to fly somewhere about 2-3 hours away (from Thurs-Sun) in early June. We want to maximize our vacation, so no far drives from the airport. Looking for a relaxing destination with great food, warm weather (either a beach or pool option), some nightlife. Any suggestions for spots/hotels/restaurants? Thanks!

If you would rather say in the US:
American, Continental, Delta & JetBlue all have RT non-stops to San Juan PR for less than $250 from NYC.
Great food, warm weather, beach AND pools, as much or little nightlife as you want.
OK, it's a little more than 3 hours. but is an extra 45 minutes a deal-breaker??
Not sure what your hotel budget is.

If you're strict about the 2 to 3 hours, you're really talking about the Carolina's or Florida.
If you're willing to go a bit longer, say between 3 and 4 hours, you have far more options.
Two that I might consider are Cancun and St. Martin. While Cancun isn't my favorite part of Mexico, the beaches are great, there are some nice restaurants, and certainly there is nightlife.
I think the French side of St. Martin is a great place. La Samana is a really nice resort and there are some wonderful restaurants. The Dutch side has some nightlife and the casinos.

Hey, I'll trade places with you. You fly 3 hours to KC, MO and I'll come to NYC. We'll trade!!
Great idea, eh? The pool is a block from my house and the airport is less than 20 minutes away. In June, it will be 90 degrees. Lots of good ribs and barbecue.
Whady'a say?
