Geting a tattoo in Lake Tahoe, NV
Hoping to get a recommendation on where to go in or around Lake Tahoe to get a tattoo. It will have to be in Nevada as the tattoo is for my 17 year old (please spare me the irresponsible parent lecture, he is doing this in honor of his best friend who died tragically 2 1/2 years ago)and he cannot get it done in California even with parental consent.
We will be staying at the Embassy Suites for 4 nights and plan to ski 1 day at Kirkwood, one day at Heavenly, and then the big event, the long awaited tattoo.
My son located a tattoo parlor in Carson City that said it was 6 1/2 miles from Lake Tahoe, but this cannot be, can it?
Thanks,
Lynnie

Yes, as the crow flies, Carson City could be that close to the lake. However, where you are staying in So. Lake Tahoe, at the Embassy Suites, it would be at least a half hour to 45 minute drive to the tattoo parlor in Carson City. Many employees of the hotels live there and commute over each day, it's not a hard drive.

Pls reconsider,,unfortunately as a healthcare profesional I see young people exposed to HIV/Aids & all forms of Hepatitis. While the needles are changed in between Clinets the ink wells are not....it would be even more tragic if your son was exposed to a voluntary death sentence.

Which is why I am asking for a recommendation.
I realize as does my son the risks involved. Although I appreciate your concern, he is going to move forward with this the day he turns 18 anyway and has steadfastly maintained since Jimmy died that he is going to do this.

So you are going to enable this idiocy?? Sad.
Depending on the time of day it could take cosiderably more than 30/45 mins from the Embassy Suites to Carson city - and then more time driving in CC itself. You are looking at a 3 to 4 hour round trip/tattoo.
Why not let him wait until he is 18 - by then he might change his mind (or have a girl friend that changes it for him)

You need to find a good shop, first and foremost, not the closest, and from looking at the responses so far, this is not the place to look.
Remember, this will be a permanent- he will be far happier waiting a year for a beautiful work of art than getting something he'll want lasered off in 2-3 years. Unfortunately, I can only give places to avoid, not go. Good luck!

Again, this is why I ask the question. I don't need any of your parental diatribes for a situation you know nothing about. I ask only if you know a qualified tattoo parlor in the vicinity of Lake Tahoe, NV.
Thanks again,
Lynnie

Try asking on www.tattooartists.com or tattoonow.com.
I just googled those, I'm sure there are more out there.

Lynnie- My thought also is to look elsewhere on the internet for website(s) with people who are into tattoos, there's got to be plenty of information out there. I don't think Fodor's is the place you're going to get this question answered.
