Generous Slots in Atlantic City

I'll be there Thursday and appreciate anyone's recent experiences there! Thanks!

The notion of "generous slots" generally a myth. Slot machines are programed to pay out a certain percentage of input.

That being said, some low-end casinos are alleged to have "more generous" pay-outs to attract customers to their rat-trap offerings.

That's correct - they're programmed to pay out a certain percentage. Last time I was there, I was lucky enough to find one which took my $20 and I eventually walked away with more than $1,000. That's the type of machine I'm looking for, and maybe someone on this board will tell me where HIS "ATM machine" at Atlantic City was!

You can't win if you don't play - at least a little.

Just an FYI - the house always wins. You cannot go to any casino thinking you are going to win or even incease your chance of winning. There is no such thing as a "generous slot". There are however "lucky" people, they are the ones that stay away from the rat hole that is Atlantic City.

My husband and I were bored last Sunday and decided to go to AC for the day. We have not been in over 7 years. Living 20 miles from NYC it is not a big trip but a world away. We found it very depressing....between the down and outs, the elderly wasting their money a nickel at a time and the over all dirty smelly smoke people drinking cheap beer was enough for us. There was nothing nice about it - no kitchy fun, no Vegas feel. Even thought we won money and came home with over $1600.00 more than we walked in with it did not matter.

I met a family from California there who were on vacation and went there for the day. They were equally grossed out.

Sorry but you asked for a recent experience.

I'm not sure why people say there are no such things as "generous slots". Maybe it's a semantics thing, but if one casinos machines are set to pay back 85% of all intake and another's machines are set to pay back 90% of all intake, then I'd call the 90% machines the generous slots.

Sure it's luck, but obviously your chances are better when sticking to one machine which pays out a higher percent than another machine. In Las Vegas many casinos used to post that (97% was a common figure in those days), but now they keep a much higher percantage and I rarely see them advertise how the machines are set.

In Vegas & AC at least, 99% of the machines are set with the identical pay-out algorithm.

That being said, a few rat-trap casinos may have a more generous pay-out to attract customers.

(Oh, and the sky is blue. I'm guessing you'll "argue" about that too.)

When you see a bank of slots that say 99% pay - It is a sucker bet. What it actually means is that there is only ONE slot machine in that bank of slots that has that pay schedule. Meaning that one "lucky" slot will pay 99% payback over time...how long that time is is not disclosed, all it has to do is pay more than the others.

I do think there are lucky people however. My husband is one - he defies all the odds. He has a system but it only works for him. One of his rules is 6 spins and no action - it is time to move on! We usually come home from Vegas with 5X more than we came with. He does best when he is alone and I am in the spa. On one particular visit, we both hit jackpots in the same day!

Also you have to read the payout schedule - this is everything. There are all mixed together. Many people do not do this and just continue to feed a loser slot.

If you see a 99% pay-off advertised on a group of slot machines, it means by law only one of them is 99%, all others may be different. This is what they said on the Travel Channel "Las Vegas reveiled" or something similar. I guess, AC law is the same.

Can a Slut be Generous?

By definition, a "slut" is generous, right?

But there is no such thing as a "loser" or "loose" slot machine.

Just a sad myth to get people to feed them their welfare & social security checks.

Oh, please, Gekko, get over the fact that I argued with you that you really can't AVERAGE 110 miles an hour driving from Bradenton to Sanibel, despite your insistance that you can. Time to move on.

Wow, Annabel, if coming home with $1600 more doesn't make you happy, and make up for the grittiness, you must be a truly depressed person! Personally, I have seen some depressing things down in AC, but when I won $3,000 @ Bally's I sure forgot about all that!

I've found Trop to be a money pit (now that they've remodelled it, they probably need to make their money back). Likewise with Borgata. Although I did score about $400 there several years ago.

Don't know what to tell you, but I always stick with Ballys (and just Ballys - not Wild West, or anything like that), and usually come home with something.

Good Luck!

It will probably be a while. I suspect Postal is traveling around the world on his winnings. Perhaps we'll get a trip report when he returns?

Well, I just didn't want to antagonize anyone by reporting that I did enjoy my short trip to Atlantic City VERY much. Strangely enough, the only place I did any winning was at the Trop and at Borgata. Spent a lot of time walking on the boardwalk to keep from gambling every minute, but still managed to lose $80 in the first few hours. The next day was a lot better. I won $70 playing 25 cent Jackpot Party slots at the Trop and then another $50 playing Cops & Donuts slots (which has my favorite and funniest bonus round) at the Borgata.

So I left after 24 hours up about $40. Anytime I leave with money, it's a good time and I hope to do it again soon!
