FYI - Kiawah Island Inn
Just a tidbit of information...It was just announced that the Kiawah Island Inn will close as of December 1, 2003, in preparation for the expected opening of The Sanctuary on March 19, 2004. Anyone wanting to get in a last trip in to the "Old Inn" should do so sooner rather than later. They are shooting for 5 star status with the new facility and the prices will reflect that at approximately $275-$625/night with the Presidential Suite going for $4500/n.

That explains our run down room in the Inn's 'Lagoon' units this Summer. Check my post under "Anyone stayed at Kiawah Beach Resort?". And make sure they give you one of the refurbished rooms at this otherwise beautiful (and now defunct) resort....

Anne2,
My parents have property on Kiawah so they're 'in the loop' as far as island news goes. You will be able to stay at The Sanctuary (the new hotel) or rent a house or condo/villa just like before. You can either rent through the resort, Great Beach Vacations, Beachwalker or Pam Harrington Exclusives. Their numbers are all easily attainable. The main building from the Inn will become the welcome center for the villa rental program and we're told the pools, Straw Market, etc. will remain.
