Funny ... about New Jersey

Anybody been watching Shep Smith on Fox discuss the NJ governor's search for a catchy slogan for their state??? Such funny suggestions ... my favorites?

"New Jersey: What happens here gets buried here!"

"New Jersey: More Badda Badda Bing!"

"New Jersey: Make somethin' out of it!!!"

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away I believed Jersey cows were from New Jersey...anyone know which exit?

"New Jersey: What happens here gets buried here!"
...and you can smell it as soon as you get on the Jersey Turnpike.

But n fairness to NJ, I grew up in Gloucester County when it was positively bucolic.

When you travel west through NJ and cross into Pennsylvania they have big highway signs that say "America begins Here."

hmmmmm...what are we, chopped liver?

I think our slogan should say, "Go Home all you Bennies(otherwise known as tourists), we don't want you here"

I'm with SusieQQ! If nobody knows how great it really is here then maybe they'll stay away!

We've got enough people here already!

Love the slogans...

"NJ - at least we can laugh at ourselves." ? Trish

Trish, I'm a North Carolina native, but I lived in South Jersey for eight years (and PA for the next 13) before coming back to Carolina 14 years ago. I loved South Jersey, the vegetable stands, the people ... I lived in Sicklerville, and it was one of the most fun times of my life! Of course, I've loved the people everywhere I've lived ....

NJ - We pay the most so you don't have to.*

NJ - Sure, we got toxic waste dumps. Like you're so perfect.

NJ - We make YOUSE feel welcome.

NJ - Our state is home to the world's finest people particularly those with four letter screen names that rhyme with tryin.

*NJ sends more to Washington relative to what we get allocated than any other state.

Bonnieboard, I agree about South Jersey (I'm from Pitman--living in Ohio now). I had a great life growing up in SJ and, even though I've been gone 34 years, I still say I'm "going home" when I return (several times a year) to visit my family.

MelJ--Cool!! Me-- Woodbury, in the 1950s. Like you and Bonniebroad, I have wonderful memories of those years. Yes, Bb, the veggie stands...and the caterpillar nests in the trees! .When I describe those yrs to folks who haven't been there, they think I'm inventing some TV family sitcom.
But as you know, it really WAS like that!!
And the smelly part was at the other end of the state!
BTW, Joisy people, isn't the wealthiest per capita county in the USA in Northern NJ??? Nr Montvale/Woodcliff Lake area??

CaliNurse: Woodbury holds a lot of great memories for me. My aunt worked at Silver's Linens for about 30 years. Every Friday mom and I would go see her, then go have a sundae at Kresge's.

Now the Kresge's is a great antique mall. I bought some oils there in July.

Offlady, about the "garden state" name: South Jersey has orchards everywhere (peach, apple) and truck farms. Jersey tomatoes--the BEST!

Glad I stopped by the US Forum--I've been on the Europe forum for years--guess I'm going to have to spend more time here

offlady, much of NJ was and some still is agricultural land. Plenty of Farms still active in the West & Southern parts of the state. South Jersey is a major growing area for blueberries & cranberries. Jersey tomatos & Jersey corn too...YUM!

I'm a North Jersey girl...grew up in Scotch Plains, now live in Union.

We've got the best of everything IMO. Close to the city, the mountains, the beaches. Accessibility is everything!

Ryan...loved your slogans.

CaliNurse,

You are right. The Bergen County area is one of the more expensive places to live in the country. I think it was number four on the Fodors list.
