Borealis,
I missed your post on my first reading today, I want to tell you how glad I am for you and your family that your BIL is alright.
That must have been so terrible for you all until you knew where he was.
Big hugs!
oh and enjoy the gardening. Here in Florida, my garden looks like a NY garden does in July and I have over a dozen tomatoes turning red !

I'm not Catholic either but would still like to find more information re this Saint.

So where exactly in the Bible did Jesus or the Disciples deem him this real estate power?
(didn't realize realty existed back then)
Or is this a superstition that gained strength?

And I'm seriously interested as we've not had great success selling homes and another one looks to be in our future.
Thanks.

Wanderluster (and Scarlett): I am not Catholic either, but when I had a hard time selling a hosue a fe years ago, my real estate agent told me about St Joseph. I buried him, upside down, facing the house (he actually came with directions) and I got an offer on my house within a week. It was the first and only offer I got in 7 months.

I left St Joe buried there, hoping he'd be a token of faith and love to the new family moving in.

Like you said, hey, whatever works!

Go the answer for you, Scarlett.

You are supposed to dig him up and he is to have a prominant place in the new house.

You already know he is to be buried upside down, with feet pointing to heaven, BUT his face should face the street. There was also a little prayer to read in the St. Joe kit they showed on the segment.

Scarlett:
Don't leave him in the ground. We have him on my husbands dresser right beside a picture of one of the boats he sold! By the way, we are not Catholic either, but hey, we all learn from each other.

You're not going to find St Joe Patron Saint of Real Estate in the bible. However, you're not going to find "Trinity" or other doctrines of todays church in the Bible either. These were interpretations of the patristic fathers.

Actually, the doctrine of the Trinity is in the Bible, just not named as such. A timely comment as today is Trinity Sunday in the liturgy. Check out Matt 28:19; 2 Cor 13:14; and Gen 1:1-3 (altho you really have to go back to the root words here to get the full concept of the three-in-one).
Don't know about St Joseph.

Miz Scarlett-I got all gussied up and wore my manolo blahniks to our mother/daugther tea and gingerly walked into the tea room. Toe ached like crazy, but hey the things we do for fashion! Tea was a blast, they had dress up clothes with hats for the girls and painted their nails. We had scones, finger sandwiches and assorted sweets. Wonderful tea. Great time!

I think the St. Joseph and real estate is one of those things that just picked up steam. Here is a url for everything you ever wanted to know about St. Joseph..http://www.catholic.org/saints/saint.php?saint_id=4 And, yes, whatever works.
