Rant: I drove 90 min. last weekend to VA to pick up tix for $217 jackpot. You know I didn't win (even $1). Problem must have been that I only bought 20 tix. If I'd bought $500 or $1000-worth, I just KNOW I'd have won.

Rave: for 3 days I had bought the right to fantasize with a .00001% level of reality (instead of zero%) about what I would do with the "lump sum" -- which would have been only about $170 mil but I would have coped. Aside from all my pious promises about helping people and planets in trouble (look out, Saturn!), one of my first ideas was to outfit a train car in luxury and then have it hitched to trains going wherever. Yah, one in the US and one in Europe, actually. Oh yes, and with a chef and butler.

Rant: The@#$% Red Sox lost to the Yankees again - in 13 innings - Nomar sits on the bench while Jeter is risking his career to run down a ball right into the stands. No wonder we lose. Anybody know where I can get my hands on a Devil Rays hat in the Boston area?

Raves:-After last night, there's nothing good going on.

bennnie: Not a bosox fan but i feel your pain. It can be really awful to live & die with a team! When college football starts I'll be right there with you probably, my Spartans (MSU) aren't looking so hot this year. But, they suprised us last year. We'll see.

RAVE: LOOOOOONG weekend!! woo hoo!
RAVE: Absolutely nothing planned except finishing up some house stuff that's been on the docket for awhile! Planning on getting out the 'ol smoker to make a brisket on Sunday. yummy!
RAVE: As of tonight I'll be a hundred million-aire (sorry jor & soccr)
RANT: That every weekend isn's a holiday weekend!!

Rave: Duaghter is marching in the parade this weekend. One of the best thrills of parenthood.

Rant: Friggin' Francona should be fired and Nomar should be traded(Bennnie knows where I am coming from).

Rant, but a micro-mini one since I really don't care: Coach K rumored to be leaving Duke and going to Lakers.

Rave, but a micro-mini one since I have the same chances as the others here: imaging the difference a few hundred million might make -- insert here rough drafts of: speech to husband's boss, speech to tight-fisted relative, speech to anxious aging Mom, itinerary for first-class-all-the-way trips, list of surprises for people who've been good to me.

And your rough drafts?

Rave: She is back from Taipei! Syeh-syeh to God!

Rave: Winged Migrations, watched/heard it last night and it is absolutely wonderful, thanks to GoTravel (would like to discuss it with her over dinner on Sunday). The birds and the scenery were gorgeous and suprising. Breath-taking, really.

Rant: At 11:13, the scene shows geese flying by a small island that has a building with steeple and I want to know where that island is. The scene lasts for 6 or 7 seconds and is followed by a scene of a beach with beach houses which is followed by a view of a suspension bridge with wishbone shaped support. Thanks (and $million of my future lottery winnings) to anyone who can tell me where the island is (or the beach or bridge?).

Rave: Happy Birthday, USA

Doc - You are so right about the watching your kids in a parade, a recital, a ballgame etc... Always a thrill to watch them happy and succeeding.

And you are so right about Francona and Nomar. I think the talk shows got it right this morning - he must be traded or why else would he sit out. And what's with the 5 infielders and 42 glove changes, we look like morons and none of it mattered. And can Millar hit the road too - he's been attacking the fried chicken and ice cream too hard - who lets that ball get behind them. At least McCarty played first and they wonder why there were no errors. If anyone is looking for me I'll be at Mass General - I broke my leg jumping off this bandwagon.

Rave: I'm going win that $290 million, move to Tampa, buy the Devil Rays and forget I was ever a Red Sox fan.

Rave: Life is good. My life wouldn't change much even if I did win the lottery. I'd pay off debt and give most of it to charity and family.

jor: I know exactly what you need to do w/that jackpot money--

GET A LAWN SERVICE TO CUT THAT BLASTED YARD!

But my guess is you woudln't do that, that you secretly enjoy it. Maybe some things shouldn't change, even if you come into alot of money.

About the BoSox- Listen, my wedding night was spent watching the ball roll through Bill Buckner's legs, ok? My new husband was so bummed; I kept saying "turn off the TV!" before that famous ball roll, but he just couldn't do it. Luckily my marriage has been better and more stable than following the ups and downs of the BoSox all these years.

Bennie...Francona is making Grady look like Casey Stengal. Trade nomar, keep Pokey at short,Youkilis and Mueller at third when Mueller returns. Can't be worse than it is now and get something for Nomar.

Nomar must be gettin' laid all the time,as mick said in Rocky, "women weaken legs". Thats got to be it;-)

Rave: I'm the one who's actually winning the $290 million jackpot tonight. Sorry guys/gals.
My husband says he'd keep on working. Hmmm, how nice for him. Now on to thinking what I'll do with all that cash (Seychelles, Canary Islands and on and on....)

Rant:nothing really

rave:bathroom remodel moving along swimmingly,a short work day with dinner at Plouf in SF this evening, the weekend in Healdsburg gabbing, dining and drinking with an old friend. She's got a guest cottage now so we'll even sleep in style. Personally, I'm looking forward to a shower someplace besides the gym.

Let freedom truly ring and don't forget to use Heinz catsup in abundance!
