OO--You want rain? I have a fullproof idea for you...get your windows washed inside and out, along with your screens, lol! Worked for us! I had to do it for Scarletts sake...she had to experience the rain here

Scarlett--I should have taken you to the football and soccer games today...no umbrellas! lol! The soccer game got called due to lightning, so we are cozy at home now.

Our daughter's soccer game was played today in the 97 degree heat. DH has HAD IT. He is now washing both cars to ensure that we'll see rain soon~~his version of a rain dance.

Hey you dear ones up there in Portland, how about sending some rain down here to the Sacramento Valley? Maybe that would get rid of the miserable wind we are having, LOL.
And Scarlett, while out buying new winter clothes do pick up a wardrobe of umbrellas. My DIL must have twenty, LOL. Cheers.

OO: FYI, I saw a door company ad on TV tonight stating they could turn any metal core door into a glass door! Showed an etched glass type.

Well, I don't know about doors, but maybe somebody could give me some advice about windows. The downstairs bathroom in our new house is a little odd. The room contains the washer and dryer, a laundry sink, and a toilet. There are no fewer than THREE doors; one leads to the back garden, one leads to the garage, and one leads into the hallway near the kitchen. The door that leads outside has a big glass window on it, presumably so that everyone in the garden can wave "hello" to you while you're sitting on the john. It's also handy in case your housemate parks the car in the garage and comes directly into the house via the bathroom while you're doing whatever it is that people do in bathrooms. Until I figure out some way to manage this situation, I will be forced to use the upstairs bathroom only. Any suggestions?

It's been raining off and on all day here in the West Indies. I'll have to send some up to you, OO. I have to admit that it's been nice weather for watching movies, reading and napping, though.

Just for the record, I have plain old, boring glass patio doors myself.

Meesthare, your only choice is to put a potted plant in the bowl until you come up with a solution, lol.

I can only think that you have to put shades on all the windows and locks on the doors, Meesthare!

Hi Statia, we had a lovely soft rain yesterday but today is sun and more sun. Lovely

Our best guess is that the room started out as a laundry room and the toilet was an afterthought. Nice idea, not great execution. I think we'll end up putting opaque contact paper (or whatever that stuff is) on the window. The doors do lock, but of course the garage door and the outside door could be opened with a key.

When you all come to visit, you can see for yourselves!

Hi Meesthare, I am giggling about your downstairs bathroom because several years ago we decided we wanted to get rid of our very large house as we were empty nesters at that point. We went through a very beautiful two story house, custom built. Everything was really perfect EXCEPT the downstairs bathroom (no washer and dryer in the room) had one door to the hallway and another door to the garage. And the only way to get from the garage into the house (unless one went out of the garage and around to the front door) was through the bathroom. We stood there and said "what the heck?" LOL.
Is there anywhere else in the garage that you could install a door to get into your house and then close the door off from the downstairs laundry/bathroom? And install a solid exterior door so there is complete privacy. Our FFRR has a lot of discussions about beautiful doors

A Monday rave: family rescued from New Orleans and fine. Now the battle starts over where to live (stay with us, no stay with us). In contrast to the 'how long should guest stay' thread.

About my door. I just painted it the HOA approved color and now I'm having some sticking issues. It's a metal door with insulation like around the refrigerator door (squishy stuff). Even though the paint dry (well, I would hope so since I did this a few weeks ago) the insulation sticks and I have to pull/push hard sometimes to open the door. Of course some of the paint came off the door and onto the insulation. Any suggestions?

Guess I should stop with the home improvement projects.
