Thanks for posting the donotcall phone # as it IS starting again and I needed it.

Telemarketers and that level of marketing deserves another level of hell as a consequence. Dante, do you hear me?

Yes, bennnie, I listened to the entire game and saw the first 6 and last 3 innings. I finished the entire gardens' weedings and seed plantings for beans etc. in the "middle" of that game. I've actually been at U.S. Cellular Field 6 times already this year- my Mom's house is on the South side of Chicago proper.

Red Sox and Detroit are going to be our two mountains to climb- and they both know it.

RAVE: BASEBALL and the people at the games- every level.

And thank you once again for all the good wishes, and to everybody - a hug back. I was hugged so much on Monday and Tuesday that I am blue.

Rave: Got a killer deal to Oahu For Nov. NWA just yesterday. Was listening to consumer ad Clark Howard when they announced the days travel deals...as soon as I heard "Hawaii" the ears perked up!
We got 2 r/t tickets for Nov @ $309. per person-and this is from Atlanta!!!

Rant: Recently sold our home and miss my gardening like some freaky addict

Speaking of baseball...My DH and kids have tickets for the Cardinals game on Sunday. I've been giving my son a hard time ever since he ordered them for not ordering one for me. Yesterday, when I found out how hot it's going to be in St. Louis on Sunday, I thanked him!

JJ5 though we do not "know" each other, we have had several nice chats on Fodors. My sympathy to you and your family.

Rachel: if it had a crest, it may have been a Pileated Woodpecker. If not, try googling Red-Bellied Woodpecker. Pretty cook either way!

Rave: trading fun, sexy emails with a co-worker

Rant: that it'll never leave email and enter real life

Well that's an interesting smiley...

Clarification: I do hope it enters real life, but it won't.

Rant: have to go to California to "cat-sit" my step-dad's cat while he is in the hospital recovering from pneumonia, congestive heart failure and angioplasties. step-sister was going to cancel her european cruise but i said i would come over and watch the cat. 2500 miles to sit with a cat???!!!
Rave: the prognosis is good, he's (step-dad) will be fine hopefully. Since my mom passed away 3 years ago, he's gone downhill but still able to take care of himself basically. He's a great guy, made my mom happy for 20 something years and would do anything for him (2500 miles to sit with a cat???!!!)
Rant: he doesn't have a computer, so I'll be in severe withdrawals. Hopefully I can sneak out to a cyber cafe once in awhile....

Rave: THANKS Fodorites for making me feel so welcome on my first post! I feel like I know so many of you already.

Rave: CAPH, I followed your story for awhile and I am so glad your DH is in remission. That is truly wonderful.

Another rave: My friend Ani who introduced me to Fodors. I saw her last week--she is 25 weeks pregnant and looks amazing!

Rave: I just booked a 2 bed/2 bath condo near Couer d'Alene, ID for mom, three sisters, and myself for the weekend of the now-cancelled wedding.

I'll have to start stocking up on wine, beer, and mojito provisions now!

My mom won't be in telephone contact until at least Sunday evening. Hope she wants to go!

StephCar, welcome to Fodor's, enjoy a great trip and tell us all about it when you return!

JJ5--I am so sorry for your loss.

matnikstym--aren't you a sweetheart watching your step-dad's cat so far away! Do you hire out? Killer would like to sign up! ;-)

P_M--that you are quoted in Fodor's is way cool! The only place you're ever going to find a quote from me is in the local police blotter; "AnnMarie was last heard screaming, 'but officer, it was an accident...'" ;-)

Ethel, exciting news about your honeymoon. I hope your dad is on the mend soon.

Corwin, best wishes to you in your new job!

Brookside, I hope you find what you're looking for.

PamSF, too funny!

CAPH, happy to read the great news about your DH! Enjoy a safe trip this weekend!

Update on my dad--his cardiologist can see nothing wrong with his heart (had stress test and ekg this morning) and thinks it's all because his blood pressure has been too low. Has instructed him to cut his bp medication in half and that should work. I never would have guessed it would have been something so simple. Too bad the stupid local dr's here couldn't have figured that out.

ethel...sounds like what happened to me 3 years ago. i was only 27! but, i actually blacked out. in checking with the dr's, i got a regular ekg, and echo stress test at the hospital, and i had to wear the 24 hour monitor too. they "didn't see any blockage", i didn't think they would. my mother was right, my blood pressure dropped dramatically (still not sure why) and that caused the black out. and now i know my blood pressure runs lower than normal, as per an appointment i had 3 weeks ago. good luck.

Rave--Heading over to Sunriver Resort this weekend for just over a week! This is an our annual family reunion. Can't wait for all the hiking and rafting!

Rave--DS flew to CA last weekend to visit grandparents. He is having a ball with them! Rafting the river, fishing, the Santa Cruz Boardwalk...ah, to be a kid again

Rave/Rant--A funny tradition for the women in our family...we go to the big Nordstrom Anniversary sale on opening day, at 7am when the doors open. It is fun, but WAY too early, lol! But we did it, and are now home checking out all the great deals we got. I just keep reminding my husband of how much money we saved

Rave--Found out that a friend of ours who is an astronaut, is scheduled for a launch in a few months. We are invited to it!!! I cannot express how excited we are to go watch him go into space!

jorr--That is hilarious!

StephCar--Welcome!

ethel--Very exciting about the honeymoon plans! And what a relief about your dad.

Corwin--LOL at DD!!!

otto--Have a great time with your friend. It sounds like it will be very special.

kureiff--Hilarious about the dress The ID trip sounds like a perfect distraction! I would love to hear about the condo.

JJ5--My thoughts are with you.

JAGIRL--I think I would have to go stay somewhere else if a mouse was running around inside!

Caph--Fantastic news!!!

matnikstym--Very nice of you!
