Rave: I'm leaving for vacation in two weeks. YIPEE!

Rave: It's going to be in the 90's this weekend.

Rant: My hubby hasn't installed the window air conditioners yet.

Rave: Buffalo's Italian festival started last night. I'm going to eat my way thru it tomorrow. Can you say "cannolli?"

Rant: Joe Piscopo was last night's festival entertainment, and I couldn't go. I think he's hysterical and would have loved to see him.

Have a great weekend everyone!

LeeAnn: Have fun this weekend.

Steph: Hugs for you. Those two-year olds are so fast! I'm glad everything turned out okay.

Ethel: Congrats on booking your honeymoon! You must be so excited!

Corwin: Hugs.

Rave: Fun weekend with the Husband's family at the lake. We had three two-year olds (all born within a month of eachother) and seven-month old twins running and crawling around.

Rant: Sister's wedding is officially cancelled. Anyone interested in a bazillion pink and green votive candleholders?

Rave: Now I don't have to wear my ugly bridesmaid dress.

Rave: The first weekend at home in about five weeks. I'm excited for a trip to the Farmer's Market, tomorrow, and doing some gardening.

Have a good weekend everyone! ><

Rave: Numerous wonderful Fodorites and also bi-site posters like bennnie (you all know who you are) who are helping me with their thoughts and prayers.

Rave: My Mother passed out of this life last Friday and is now with her own Mother and home at last. Her last hours were not bad, which is the greatest rave.

Rant: 500 plus Thank You notes to do- but that's not really a rant when you think about it.

Rave: My son Tom, who did the tribute in Church and who also got her Taste of Chicago turkey legs the night before that she wanted.

Rave: Stacey, a live-in Hospice Aid from Lithuania, she is a saint.

Rant: Siblings who will not accept change or physical realities.

Rave: My mother's life and the 500 plus friends and co-workers who celebrated it at the wake and funeral.

Rave: That I caved and had her hair dyed. She wanted it; I didn't. But it turned out perfect, and she would have been happy. And her red lipstick was correct as well.

No need to reply here, and I mean it. I'm fine, just swamped with my Dad. I can't get the stubborn 87 year old German to eat what he burns. They were together for 70 years and married for 61. He hasn't signed a check or paid a bill in 45- so my work is cut out for me.

Next week I travel to MI and to Detroit/Comerica Park to see my beloved White Sox defeat them. If I am not around for awhile, do not worry- I will be back. Right now I need to work on getting my Father into air conditioning he doesn't "need"-according to him.

Everyone stay cool whereever you are- there are some high temps coming through all over this weekend.

o.k. o.k. so...I don't usually like to rant.

BUT...

RANT: I have got a mouse in my house!!! A mouse! Where? In MY clean, immaculately kept, sterile, germ free, now mouse defiled house! Oh the horror! The horror!

My Max brought it in last night. I spent all night hunting for it and couldn't find it. Didn't get any because...well..how do you when there's a mouse in your house?

Grrrr!!!!! I could just kill that .

Serenity now...serenity now...serenity now...serenity now!!!

Rant: telemarketers are soon going to be allowed to call cell phones!!!! Yup..AND you WILL be charged for their calls. You can call 888-382-1222 from your cell phone for the Do Not Call list OR go to www.donotcall.gov.

That's my only rant. Glad it's Friday. Have a good weekend everybody.

JJ5, what starrsville said. You are a special daughter I think to take such good care of your parents under difficult circumstances.

And I hope your team wins!

Greetings all you lovely FFR&R'ers ~

Rave ~ Friends
thanks for the nice thread this week.

Rave ~ That AnnMarie is of the opinion that all those bats, how did she say it "flapping about above me" is a rave. I am greatly impressed. I would have been running, screaming, dashing about the neighborhood like a madwoman. They would have institutionalized me. And in my haze I would have been mumbling something about 'how I need to post on Freaky Friday Rants and Raves' and ultimately as a result they would keep me there forever!

Rave ~ Two words folks:
P-r-o-j-e-c-t R-u-n-w-a-y
Love it, love it, love, it. Carry on!

Rave ~ All the Fodorites that are departing on trips.

Rave/Rant ~ All the Fodorites returning from trips. A rant for them, but a rave for us we missed you (cmcfong!)

P_M ~ congrats! We can say we knew you when! Don't forget all the little people, k? p.s. I feel bad for Barbaro too.

Welcome StephCar!

ethel ~ sweetie, I hope your Dad will be ok.

bennnie ~ wow "Workers are polite and clean up very well after themselves" You have witnessed a rare event, darlin! That is fantastic.

otto ~ have fun at your spa day in NYC!

kureiff ~ enjoy your weekend at home - I love those, and they last so much longer!

Hugs for Mimi and Jerry. JJ5, if you check in, I still think of you, too. Strength for all.

JJ5 - My deepest sympathy at this difficult time. It is clear from your various postings here that you love your family deeply and that they love you. Enjoy your trip to watch the White Sox. Did you see any of the 19 inning game against the Red Sox - probably not but it was a dousy.

Blessings and condolences to all who are facing grief and challenges.

Rant: I'm job hunting, so I can't ignore the telemarketers. "Unknown Caller" could very well be my next boss!

Rant: If I don't find a job soon, I'm going to have to cancel my trip to Florida -

Rave: I had two interviews this week.

Rant: Both of the jobs sucked (long hours, low pay.)

Rave: I have an interview next week, too.

Corwin -- our situations sound mighty similar. I'm also in marketing -- laid off in the spring and it has been *tough.* Good luck w/ the car sales job!

Tiff,

BIG Rave for Project Runway. I discovered Season 1 late and found myself tied to the sofa during a weekend marathon. Loved Season 2. Watched the countdown to Season 3 BUT FEEL ASLEEP before the actual episode! (Too tired from TRAVELING home from the coast) Good thing = Bravo will do repeats.

J5--I know you aren't expecting anyone to respond but I just wanted to send my condolences. Your mother is no longer suffering. 500 people to celebrate her life is amazing. It's clear she was a truly wonderful woman and mother. Hugs to you, your father and family.

Rave: the telemarketers replies listed here..I might like the "There's blood everywhere, it's a bad time". We have also tried "We're eating dinner right now but give me your phone # and when you'll be sitting down to eat and I'll return your call".

Rant: the death of children. I had a case earlier this week that was immensely difficult. The parents are inspiring and the chaplain "off the charts"..too much fire and brimstone and not at all what was wanted. Sigh..I took a mental health day on Monday and cleared my head.

Rant: The Middle East..now what!!

Rave: two weeks until we rendezvous with R5 and Mr R5 for chat & chow.
More plans for Healdsburg in early August to celebrate our 20th and Montreal/Quebec City in September. I just made 3 days of reservations in Marshall(Point Reyes) for my bday weekend.

Sympathies to all enduring loss and a wonderful weekend to all.

ROTFL ~ I almost (whew) just signed a business email "Tiff". Can you hear me belly laughing right now??????

Oh my goodness, my youth is gone, perhaps I should change my screen name to my real name. Might as well plug in my home address and social security number too so those that are left can take care of me.

Let me just stress the importance here, if I had hit send, and that 'Tiff' email had gone off into cyberspace, then I reaallllllllllly would have been in lock up.

It would have been a FainaAgain/Sybil/Survivor moment.

At least I have Project Runway, right, starrsville??? Just remind me when I forget how much I love it, ok?

(Still laughing)

Since signing up for the do not call thing we get very few telemarketing calls. But the charities...! Lately we've been averaging 4 or 5 calls a day! We have caller ID and never pick up. But it's still a pain having to go check the phone every time. I'm sure they're using some sort of automated dialing thing. But you'd think, after a while, they'd realize you must have caller ID and just take you off the list! I'm so aggravated I've decided not to donate to any organization that pays people to call. There are plenty of other good causes out there. Guess I should've put that under rants, huh!

Good luck with the decorating, Lee Ann. And enjoy the weekend!

Congrats on being published, P_M!

And congrats to Scarlett on her photos!

AnnMarie, so sorry for your step-mother's loss.

Welcome, StephCar!

Ethel, congrats on booking the honeymoon! Sending good thoughts and prayers that your father will be feeling back to normal very soon.

And prayers and good thoughts to you and your family too, JJ5. Good luck with your father. I hope you have a wonderful trip next week. You certainly deserve a break!

Rant/Rave: Leaving tomorrow morning to spend the weekend at my MIL's. Always dread going, always enjoy it once I'm there. And, at this point, I'll take any excuse to be on the road. Wanderlust always hits me hard in the summer! Not looking forward to the heat and humidity of southern Illinois though.

Rave: DH saw the oncologist Tuesday and got a clean bill of health. No scans this time! Just another visit in two months.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend! ><

JJ5, so sorry about your mother's passing.

StephCar, Welcome, My brother does something similar only he says he is sitting on the toilet and asks them to wait.

Just minutes ago I got another telemarketer call. Caller ID comes up First National 818-333-2670. She hung up. They claim to be a financial company but the company does not exist and a call return goes in circles.
