Rave: Wonderful weekend ahead. Neighbors have invited us for a party; they are much younger and great fun. Two other social events and life is really good.

Rave: Gardens at work and at home are so beautiful that they bring tears to my eyes. Peonies, lilies, iris, roses, are all so lovely. Asparagus and radishes to eat already.

Rant: Thinking about 40 and wishing it back, or 50, or 55. Took my picture and filled out my passport renewal papers last night. I actually cried looking at my old picture. I want that girl back. Aging well is still horrible. Sorry, that is not like me. But nevertheless it is true.

Rave: Definitely could be worse, just think how Bridget Bardot must feel.

Biggest Rave: Youngest grandson 2 years old fell off the pier last Monday but father and my guy fished him out before he swallowed too much. He backed up too far tossing pebbles. You have to have eyes on the back of your head. Kudos to all parents out there for every age- even if your baby is 40.

Rave: you folks are the best! Last Friday I mentioned the loss of our kitty and my father-in-law's Alzheimers -- and there were so many kind responses.

GoT -- 40 is just a number. (I'm 42 but feel 27.) I drop 10-15 years by wearing sunglasses. I'm not wrinkled, I think my eyes look tired because I could use more sleep.

b in d -- about the "before 40" list, always remember: "Goals are stars to steer by, not sticks to beat yourself up with."

cd -- hope you have a successful ankle recovery

Rave: Bonnie, you're an instpiration! And happy birthday, GT!

Rave: Two grandchildren here for the week. We're having such fun..baseball in the front yard, football in the back. Eight-year-old has invented all sorts of new rules to accomodate teams of just two people!

Rave: going fishing today, using fat worms from the leaf/compost pile.

Rant: GoTravel, brown recluse bites can be scary! Hope your friend recovers quickly.

Rave:A weekend without plans except to work in the garden, figure out just what color to paint the living room and hit the Farmers Market for the first organic blueberries of the season!

Rave: Bearded Irises finally in bloom in the garden after planting them last Fall. The "Royal Sultan" made me gasp when it bloomed! A bright apricot cup surrounded by deep rust-maroom colored falls makes it a stunner!

Rave: Mark Felt

Rantick Cheney being "offended" by Amnesty International's Report.

Happy Friday and a good weekend to all.

To those hitting 40-enjoy, it's a wonderful decade. I remember turning 40,
I think

Rave: Had a great trip to NYC last weekend.

Rave: Summer is finally here! Time for festival season in Buffalo.

Rant: Health insurance companies: Mine won't cover a medical device needed to help heal my broken collarbone until 3 months have passed - What the heck? After 3 months, you might as well re-break the bone and try healing it from scratch!

Rant: Tried opening up our pool yesterday and found out the heater is broken... I'm ready to fill in the darn thing!

PamSF, Put a space after the colon to avoid the unwanted

Rave: The recent humorous, well written, and still informative trip reports, especially on the Europe forum (amongst them yours, Cassandra).

Rant: That I won't have a reason to be writing a trip report for several months.

Happy Friday everyone!

Sorry GoTrav about your spider bite! Yikes!

Bonniebroad , yeah!

Cd, sorry about your ankle, if this is any consolation, be happy it broke and wasn't a sprain, breaks heal better (or so the docs tell me after my right ankle has sprained three times, ha).

sunbum1944, Soph and I are sorry about your kitty. was lucky to have you for all those years!

Rave: My wonderful husband.

Rave: Sophie ((&)) is 10 days post-op from her second surgery and is recovering quite well, bless her little pea pickin' heart.

Rave: My brave Mom, after losing her father, mother and her husband of 36 years (my Dad) all within a 13 month time period, she still makes the choice every day to count her blessings. I love her so much it brings a tear to my eye right now to think of her courage.

Rant: no rants.

Have a great weekend everyone!

sunbum, sorry to hear about your kitty. I have two older pups and know my time will come one day, too.

Tiff, glad to hear that Sophie is doing well after surgery. My JRT had surgery a couple of weeks ago and is doing well, too....other than that limp he gets on the leg where the IV was. I don't know what's up with that.

To Statia:

I saw in last week's R&R thread that your DH's company was being bought out.
Would it happen to be an oil company?
If so, I work for them and would love to chat!

Rant*cry*rant*cry*rant*cry*rant*cry*rant

My friend's youngest son is being buried tomorrow- a 22 year old victim of the Iraq war. He was supposed to come home last October, but was called back under the new produre that allows the government to call you back to war after your time is up.

The war that I was always opposed to has a face....
