Rant: Jury duty. Have been about eight times. I'm out of the pool for a couple of years. My SO got a notice and I just threw it away. They send through regular mail and there is no way they can prove you got it. However, if and when another one comes, I don't have the guts to throw it away again, so he'll have to bite the bullet.

Rant: cloudy skies again. It was so nice to have a few sunny days and now overcast again.

Rave: I think I'm going to Paris in November with my girl friend...at my age I use that term loosly!!!!!!! LOL She's coming up to visit next week so we'll get the final decision made.

Rave: got a new dog. Wanted to adopt and it's really been hard finding a small dog. I've been going on line and checking all the postings at petfinders, and petharbor, rescue groups etc. and nothing was there or if I called the dog wasn't available anymore. So last week ..exactly what I wanted...two year old neurtered male Lhasa Apso at our local SPCA. Called, he was there and I brought him home the same day. He is just too cute and he hates kids....that works for me...so do I!!!!! LOL...well, not really, but sort of.

Rant: I agree with all the Branjolina stuff...I could care less, the problem is, unless you are deaf and blind, you just can't avoid it all together. Just don't understand all the "fascination" with these people.

Rave: it was a short week. Happy weekend to everyone.

Rant: Buffalo Sabres out of the playoffs.

Rave: Great hockey series, great future for Sabres, great fun with fellow fodorite hockey fans.

Rave: 3 weeks til our next vacation-a week at the beach and then a couple days golfing with SIL & BIL at their home. I'm gathering books to read on the beach-any suggestions?

Rave: Walking with 22 friends and relatives tomorrow in Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure (Breast Cancer). Good weather forecast, our team has raised it's goal plus, and my assistant bought me a really cute pink baseball cap to wear! Too bad I can't bring the puppy boys.

Rant: Getting 16 y.o thru the last weeks of school including SATs and final exams! He's a good student but he hasn't cracked a book for the SATS and I know I will have to nag, nag, nag for him to study a minimal amount for exams.

Blessings to all.

Rant: The wife of my former boss was killed in a bike accident yesterday- hit by a logging truck. She was an outstanding athelete having done the Ironman several times. Very sad!

Rave: Off to Kansas City next week to celebrate my daughters 30th BD with friends and relatives - and yikes! my ex-husband and his wife ( I think that part should be a rant)

Rant
Severe storms last night took two large branches off a bradford pear tree. The chain saw took care of it tho.

.Rave
Called the town office to see if the town maintenance would haul what I cut up. Twenty minutes later a supervisor was at the house to tell me to stack it along the curb, a truck will be by to pick it up. Once again we reap the benefits of living in a small town.

Rave: The one I care about is my DIL whose US this week reveals it's a boy!!!

Rant: Still in an awful drought...no rain last night when the 50% predictions got our hopes up...still hoping we'll get some of the 60% predicted today!

tpatricco: Please do a TR on STJ...I love that place! Also, have fun at the NY/NJ GTG.

Ethel: Another resource: TTG I think you'll really enjoy it there, from what I hear.

Rave: Nearly $5 million donated to Unicef because of the birth of a baby! I'd say a LOT of people care. What better way to take advantage of that situation?

Rave: 3 days on Lake Tahoe, bus tour around it, won a little on the slots, and most of all, it was almost peaceful with my father and his wife.

Xrae, let me join your Imitrex rave! It may be healing too, not just stopping an attack, as I'm not taking any for at least a year now. Or maybe just careful with food and drinks.

Bonniebroad, I have a friend who had 2 knee surgeries 6 months apart. The first one was perfect, the 2nd knee hurt for a year, and still "reminds". She's in her late 40s. Sorry don't know any details and wouldn't ask except the general "how do you feel".

Hugs to everyone who needs them.

bennnie, boy, do I feel your pain. I'm the youngest of 6 all of whom are scattered around the country. I miss birthday celebrations and big family Christmases even though it's been 30 years since those things have been part of my life. As a mom, I don't want to be a pain to my daughters, but I am determined that I will either live close by one or both of them when they settle down, or I will have a big travel budget!

Greetings Fodorites:

Only raves this week!

Biggest one: My son's widow has her appt. with INS to become a permanent resident. We did it by the book, (and by the checkbook, too, to lawyer), please keep your fingers crossed for her.

Next biggest rave: Miami Heat wrap up their conference championship tonight.

I want to know what Tiff looks like!! She must radiate good vibes!

Best to all of you....

Happy Friday Everyone!!

Rave: It's Friday!!!

Rave: Another interview scheduled for next week!

Rave: Having fun planning our trip to Europe!

Rave: Celebrating the graduation of our dear friends' son tomorrow!

Rant: Rain. Too much rain. How come torrential rains come after you plant grass seed???

Rant: Threads that become so incredibly long that they are not helpful to the reader.

Rant: The idea that NYC does not have any national momuments or icons -- ridiculous, really.

Happy Anniversary AnneMarie!!!

lcuy, good luck with the acupuncture. I had treatments for almost two years. I hope they help you.

Hey there P_M! You goofy gal!

Way to go Ani!!!

Sunbum and Tess, how awful! I'm so very sorry for your losses.

Oh Ethel, good luck breaking in those shoes! I still remember my wedding shoes -- did the same thing, trying to break them in. Funny, I can still remember kicking those things off at the reception.

Tiff! Welcome back! Well, let me say that I'll look forward to your trip report. My DH and I are planning a trip to Phoenix/Scottsdale in April. I'm sure I'll be a pickin your brain, girl!

OSB, I'll be glad to send some rain your way! But let's keep the winds away.

Jorr, I love lilacs...from a distance (they make me sneeze), lol. I was sad to lose part of a large lilac bush this spring. I don't know what happened to it. It had buds on it and looked like it was forming leaves -- then, it just died. Any thoughts as to what might have happened?

mcheryl, I'll say a prayer and keep good thoughts for you and your family!

JJ5, thinking of you and wishing you strength.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!! Have fun at the NY/NJ GTG!!

No major rants....I guess that is good.

Happy weekend to everyone!

Rant:
Doctors who are so completely unaware of the fact that they are treating Humans. You know, humans-the sort that worry until you give them a diagnosis.
Rave:
Things could be worse
Opinion:
iw-I find it impossible to feel sorry for anyone who makes millions of dollars , who has to cope with some press.
re: the baby..how many people go to Africa to avoid the press, bring in their own doctor and then donate millions to the country? I hope she has more babies all over Africa! I hope she starts a new Trend. Get rid of the little red bracelet and donate some of that money!

lucy, I hope the cough is gone soon.

sunbum, in Oregon? bicyclists here are so at risk! I am so sorry.

I used to take Imitrex and it made such a difference in my life! and yes, my migraines just went away after a while, for the first time since I had my first at 17.

AnnMarie

Ahhh, the scent of Coppertone, memories from all those summers, all those beaches, Hawaii, California, NY .. Not any more, now I stay pale ...sigh...

Happy weekend~

Hi STW ~ Ok, I don't know that I will do a report because really I was there just to relax and for some meetings on the house we are building there.

But for you my dear, a mini-report... I will say that the Westin Kierland is a lovely resort... the resort food there was way above par and quite delicious (DH & I already decided we will go back for that gourmet margarita pizza even if we are not staying there, the marinated vegetables, oh my, you must go).
The Kierland Commons Shops just across the street from the Westin are great. The Scottsdale Fashion Square is even better. Favorite restaurants include Ocean Club, Roy's, Bobby's (new and italian-GREAT lobster ravioli). Have fun, bring cool clothing, ha ha.

mcheryl ~ you are a sweetie. I always TRY to radiate good vibes and am proud of every one of my laugh lines (wrinkles) ha. And believe me, there are many. Thank God.
p.s. Fingers crossed for the INS appt.
