Freaky Friday Rants & Raves 6-2-06

Rant. The Branjolina baby. Who cares?

Rave: The scent of Coppertone sunscreen and my lilac bushes.

You're so right on that..Poor Baby.

Rant: Got the worst sounding cough. I periodically get a tickle in my throat that turns to a hideous hacking; usually happens when I'm on a business call on the phone or somewhere quiet (like the baccalaureate service last Sunday).

Rave: I've started seeing an chinese medicine person for acupuncture and am very excited about it already.

Rave: Graduation for our good friend's daughter on Saturday night, then I'm off to San Diego for a few weeks. Going to try and sell my old family home. Hoping for a good price or I may keep it. I grew up there, so of course it is very sentimental. I need to dress it up for the sale, so watch out Ikea and Ross! I just love shopping for 'stuff', especially since I don't have to think if I'll still love it in 3 months or so!

aaaah lcuy beat me to it! Have fun in San Diego!!

Rave: Leaving for DC in 2 weeks.

Rave: Got my tix for Chicago and Paris.
Rant: Paid too much. I should have waited for the Delta sale!

Rave: sailing on the Pride of Hawaii on Sunday.

Rave: My best high school friend is coming for a weekend visit!

Rant: I have a migraine coming on. VERY bad timing.

Rant: THE BUFFALO SABRES LOST LAST NIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rant: I have to report to jury duty today. I'm hoping they don't pick me. Yeah, I know...it's my civic duty.

Rave: It's Friday!

Have a great weekend everyone!!!

Icuy: I tried accupuncture years ago for back pain and it worked like a charm. I highly recommend it!

Could not agree more, Jorr! About the baby AND the Coppertone.

Rave: DH and I celebrated our 21st wedding anniversary yesterday. He surprised me by taking the day off--best gift ever!

Rave: The Da Vinci Code, the movie. Haven't read the book yet.

Rave: Kopp's sweet and thoughtful trip report.

I hope everyone enjoys a safe weekend!

Happy Anniversary, AnnMarie, and many more!!

lcuy, accupunture did wonders for me just after surgery, I hope it helps you too.

Rant: Got a jury summons this week too, BG. I filled out the questionnaire on line. One question was "Are you of sound mind and good moral judgement?" Well of course I lied and said "yes." But now I wish I had been honest and told them I'm crazy and I have no morals. That's one way to get out of jury duty.

Rant: The neighborhood looney set his own house on fire!! Nobody was hurt and the looney is in the hospital. I hope he gets the help he needs, but if not, then I hope he moves away.

Rave: It's Friday!!

Happy weekend, all!!

P_M-thanks for the first laugh of the day!
Happy Anniversary AnnMarie!

RAVE: DH and I ran the Bolder Boulder (a very large nationally televised 10k) on Monday. 5 months pg and finished in under an hour. Can you tell I'm shamefully proud of myself?
DH did great, too!

RANT: the 4 miles we walked afterwards due to screwing up the bus pick-up location...ugh.

RANT: All of the stupid celebrity pregnancies (Anna Nicole....seriously?)and births to contend with.

Happy Friday! Have a few cocktails for me

Rave: We picked out the tuxes yesterday and I found shoes for my dress last weekend. Finally, I feel like I'm getting some more done.
Rant: My shoes are so uncomfortable!!! but so darn cute! I have 4 months to break them in. Guess I'll have to wear them while I'm doing chores around the house.

Rave/Rant: Fiance and I are now considering Puerto Vallarta for our honeymoon. It's so overwhelming, though, and I don't know where to start (aside from here, of course). Plus, it would be in early October and I'm afraid the weather wouldn't be that great. We're supposed to be narrowing it down not adding more choices

Rant: Buffalo lost last night! Waaaahhhh

Rant: Fiance goes leaves for Alexandria, VA on Sunday
Rave: Although I will miss him terribly, I enjoy having the house to myself for a few days.

I hope everyone has a wonderful summer weekend!!

Rants: None at all today!

rave: going home tonight and will see best friends!

we are having the "public" memorial service for my grandfather tomorrow. nearly 400 people are expected! wow.
i am making a little display board to put up, with literary quotes and pictures of random things that make me think of him. (his favorite bird, louis armstrong, etc...) i thought it was a little something different.

rave: a short work week. was only here since wednesday!

rant: job hunting/switching is hard.

rant: allergies are strong!

rant: the humid and horrible air quality in new york on days like this. it will get worse before it gets better!

Rant: My sister and her family are moving away from us. Makes me sad, I will miss my niece an awful lot as well as my sister and brother in law.

Rave: They are moving to the DC area so we will have an interesting place to visit.

Rant: I have 6 brothers and only 1 sister and most of them live far away from where we grew up. I love them and their children very much and wish they were closer. I thank God that my youngest brother and one of my older brothers are still in the area.

Rant: Rain Rain Go Away - enough already.

Rave: Hard working construction crew framing the addition to my house. Believe it or not they are working 12 hour days.

Rant: Architect's mistakes making them work harder than they should have to.

Rave: Life is good. My rants are minor considering what could be.

My prayers go out for those Fodorites in need, JJ5 in particular.

Rave (or should it be rant?)--DD got her driver's permit this week. Thankfully she is a bit afraid

Rave--Found out last night that we will be headed back to Seattle in a couple weeks! Do we really need to tell the inlaws (who live there) that we will be there? LOL!

AnneMarie--Congratulations!

PM-- LOL!

Ani--Congrats!

Ethel--If the shoes do not "break in" more, then buy new ones. You are on your feet so much that day and you really need something comfy.

PM, I have been summoned for jury duty three times. If I got that online questionaire I would make myself look the the biggest raving lunitic in the jury pool. Once they get you on a jury you get put on speed dial.

RAVE: The Carolina Hurricanes will play the Edmonton Oilers for the Stanley Cup! YAY!!!!!!!!! (Ain't life grand, Dan??? ) GO HURRICANES!!!! (Love you, Roddy! )

RANT: My Buffalo friends are sad, because somebody had to lose! But it was a great series, and they can be so proud. To my Buffalo friends, especially BuffaloGal:

RAVE: Most beautiful Spring this year here in Raleigh, and just spent our first week at the pool ... five out of the last six days! YES ... the joys of retirement!

RANT: Knee replacements that go wrong! My poor sister, age 72, had one 19 months ago, and is still in misery. Sees a new specialist today for an opinion. Anybody here have experience with these things???

AnnMarie, congrats on that anniversary! Have many more wonderful ones ...

Ethel, I agree with mms on the shoes ... please don't wear them for the big day unless they feel like slippers by then. You wanna feel as beautiful as you'll look!

Everybody, have a great weekend!

High fives to Jorr on the rant and the rave. This was the best lilac season we've had in the nine years we've lived here--blissful!

lcuy, I'm an acupuncture convert too--it can decrease my stress levels just like that. Hmmm, maybe it's time for another treatment?

Ani, AWESOME!

Rave: My 14 year old is back home safe and sound after her 8th grade class trip to D.C. this week. They rolled in last night at 1:30 a.m. so we haven't heard any details yet, other than they had to sit on the Dulles runway for 3 hours yesterday due to weather. Then it was 3 hours to Denver and another 3 hours on the bus ride home. I missed her but am so glad that she had this experience.

Rant: A long-time friend of my husband's family was killed in a car wreck yesterday. We still don't have any details, other than the accident happened out of state. So sad.

Rave: Finished writing a big project for work yesterday--it's been hanging over my head for the past few weeks and I'm glad to be done. I wonder what it would be like to have a job without constant, unrelenting deadlines???? Hmmm, I think someone needs a vacation!

Rave: Mini mom-n-son vacation this weekend for a Colorado soccer tournament. The rest of the family's staying home so it's just the two of us.

Good weekend, everyone!

That coppertone sunscreen smells really good to me and lots of other people but a few years back I went on a tour through Scotland with people mostly from places like Australia and New Zealand. I slathered it on every morning and one day somebody on the bus told me some of the people were asking about that "smell" on me. LOL They probably don't have coppertone in their countries and don't associate it with summer like I do. As for the lilac scent, Its from just one bush next to a window and the house smells like they are growing inside the house.
