OK, sorry I missed it on Freaky Friday. It's Salty Saturday now (reference to the ice on my front steps that no amt. of salt or kitty litter is helping) and I wanted to add mine. Is it sacreligious to add to these lists on Sat. instead of Friday?

Rave: I am planning a hiking trip to Zion and Bryce in March w/my very best hiking friend, and it's our first time in Utah. Tres exciting.

Rant: I have been consumed and obsessed w/that trip all week and have spent too much time online- the kitchen sink is full, husband is complaining about something living inside the fridge (hey, you can clean the fridge out too, buddy), and I've been staying up late at night to get work done = exhaustion.

3) Rant: Why do folks perpetuate the negative threads here? Why not just ignore the negative ones and let them die on the vine?

4) Rave: I am not in Houston, my prior address, for the Superbowl insanity this weekend.

5) Rant: It is 15 degrees (feel like Fargo w/the widn though) and I left the lights on in my husband's car last night so it wouldn't start this a.m. and it won't take a jump. But then he went out inmy car and locked the keys in it in a university parking lot, w/the motor running, so he can't be too mad at me about the stupid light situation. Thank god for AAA.

emd, thanks for the laughs this morning!

I think people perpetuate the negative because sometimes, just sometimes, it is such sport to point out to someone what a bonehead they are being.

Rant: It will probably be cold and grey in London in two weeks.

Rave: It has only warmed up to -9 so far this a.m. so even a rainy day sounds idyllic compared to THIS.

Rave: Weather cancelled school 3 days this week.

Rant: Weather cancelled school 3 days this week--it's nice to have a day off now, but making them up when the weather is warm will be a drag

Rant: I haven't run outside for 3 weeks and am turning into a real wus, I am dreaming about treadmills in my sleep. And my outdoor cat is going stir crazy being indoors.

Rant: Paris Hilton and Jennifer Lopez anything

Rant: I feel like I am watching the same Apprentice show week after week, just the assignment changes.

Rave: The Donald laid it on the line to the girls (notice I didn't say "women")

Rave: Loving the new satellite radio

Rant: Airline showing reruns ALREADY!

Rave: The sun IS actually shining today--It's nice to know it's still out there somewhere

I think Freaky Friday doesn't expire until Sunday night at midnight, so...

RAVE: Last night I waited patiently for an older couple to pull out of their parking place, only to have another car whip a U turn and try to grab the space from me. I got the parking place and he got a lecture from a cop who happened to be right there. Sweeeeeeet...how often does THAT happen?

RAVE: Survivor All-Stars starts tonight!

RANT: It's raining AGAIN here in northern Ca, but I can't even complain because the weather is so much worse elsewhere.

I guess due to time difference, you get to watch Superbowl and Survivor All-Stars? Everyone else on Eastern Standard time here is watching Superbowl. I'm still obsessing and planning the trip, like I was on the post on Salty Saturday.
No way a cop showed up to lecture the attempted parking spot-stealer!! That's almost like in Annie Hall when Woodie Allen is having that intellectual conversation w/the less brainy folks behind him in line(I think he is mouthing off on a Bergman film and some deep significance) while in line to go into watch a movie at the theater, and Marshall McCluen (is that right? can't recall it exactly) shows up behind him to beef up and support Woodie's movie-critique to the slobs in line. Why isn't life like that.

RANT: I am staying in Las Vegas one night when I land on the way to hike in Zion the next day in March; I found a $79 rate thru Treasure Island online on their site but my travel companion didn't get back to me in time yesterday to tell me if she in fact wanted to stop in Las Vegas overnight or go straight to Zion instead so we can get up and hike right away the next a.m.- and the rates on line DOUBLED today at Treasure ISland and no other booking sites are offering rooms for nite of March 24!!!! I missed it!!

I don't think the cop lectured him about trying to steal the parking space. It was the illegal U turn, and something about it being right in front of a fire station. The cop said, "Is a parking place worth a $200 fine?" But then he didn't give him a ticket, which did not spoil my satisfaction one bit!

PS It's "McLuhan."

And with that proclamation from cigalachanta, perhaps we should officially close this week's Rant and Rave...

Rant: Stayed at the Hampton Inn in Concord, NH. It is undergoing major renovations which I was not informed about when I made the online reservation or when I followed up with 2 phone calls. Pool and exercise room closed. Workers from the project were housed on both sides of my room and when I complained to the front desk about noise from them after 11 p.m.they did NOTHING!
I am a Hilton Honors member with over 14 stays last year alone. I tried the headquarters and while sympathetic would do nothing about the situation.

Bye-Bye Hilton
