Some rants today:

A lunatic stole my SIL's 9 year old dog. What type of dimented person wants to steal another family's animal? Niece and family have been crying for 3 days. Police are involved and we know it was a female that called the dog into her car. But at this point I don't think Rusty dog will be coming home. :-<

Post holiday weight gain

Drug addicts

Raves:

My family

Having a great dinner yesterday

Loving inlaws that take care of me

Nice people O

Rave - My daughter is in town from College. We saw the whole family last night. Just hunkering down watching movies, talking, etc...

Rant- Now she wants to go shopping, - the busiest shopping day of the year!!
I have heard my company is going to have a big shake up at the end of Dec. My job may be lost.

Mike, good luck with the cleaning. My daughter just loves living in Dallas by the way!!!

Travelinwifey;
Sorry about your dog. That is a big Rant and a horrible thing to happen especially to a child.

I hope you and your family have a happier Holiday season coming up.

Rave: I just found out I'm re-hired for the part-time teaching job I had (and loved)last year - I start in January.
Rant: This is in addition to my regular job - it's a secondment - and I won't make any extra money, and I'll have to telescope a 5-day work week into 3 days.
Rave: I can do it! I did it last year and had a blast.
Have a great weekend, everybody!

Rant: Travelingwifeys family dog disaster. That person should be shot.

Rave: DONE with my Christmas shopping. Finished.

travelwifey, call your local paper. Talk shows on radio, Tell them you have a depressed child because her dog was kidnapped and this will ruin her Christmas. maybe the culprit will feel bad enough to return the dog and someone listening or reading about it will recognize your dog.
Good luck, but please!! Do It!

RAVE RAVE RAVE!!! I hosted 25 people for Thanksgiving, including two kids with severe food allergies, and it went off without a hitch!!! It's been such a blessing to have so many family members from both sides of the family here. Having said that, I'm SO glad that most of them are out shopping right now.

Rave: everyone made it here safely despite bad weather.

Rant: I haven't even THOUGHT about Christmas yet.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Rave: My family and I leave for San Francisco in 8 days!

Rave: Bought my plane ticket for a trip to Honduras next February.

Rave: Wicked is coming to Toronto and tickets go on sale this Monday.

Rant: I'm sick of the cold weather already and winter has not officially started.

Statia and Anne,
Thanks. I was the executor of dad's (9/98) and mom's (4/99) estates and cleared and sold their house in Haddonfield, N.J. Put on the market on Friday and had five offers over asking by Sunday PM.
Not quite so much active appreciation here in fly over land, but... no agent and "as is".
Anne, I'm happy SMU is a success for your daughter. My daughter is finished classes and will defend her thesis at UT/Austin in the Spring - the 3rd doc in the family.

Mike, I wish my mother's house would sell that quickly.

Birthday wishes to LoveItaly's DD.

Here's to hoping that Rusty the dog is home safe and sound soon.

Meestheare, congrats on the new job.

Jocelyn, congrats on the successful dinner. Isn't it nice when something goes off that well?

GoTravel, early congrats on your anniversary.

Buckeyemom, I can't believe someone would have the audacity to steal Jesus!

Another Rave for me: My sweet husband did all the laundry (even folded!) while I took a nap this afternooon. Now he's out getting dinner so that we don't have to cook. Opening a bottle of wine and looking forward to a lovely evening with him. (sigh)

Buckeyemom,
Actually, the (ROTC) LCOL and a bunch of his friends did something similar in DEC 1961 - he was demoted to MAJ and the rest of his buddies were outed.
I was a numbnut ROTC SSGT and thought the entire episode absurd.

Thanks so much Fodorites for your thoughts about Rusty dog. SIL has posted a $1000 reward, no questions asked. And she also contacted the local SFO news channels, they said they will run a story if things are slow at the station. I think this woman abducted the dog because Rusty looks like the Frasier dog and he can fetch 30 kinds of stuffed animals. It is a smaller community and the fact that the thief called Rusty by name means they were familiar with him, of course. It is just such a strange thing to happen, and what a horrible thing to put a family through during the holidays. No one is giving up hope yet but it doesn't look good.

DON'T FORGET THE TALK SHOWS. They love this kind of story. Do not give up for your child's sake.
