Rave: Thanks for the Vet's recognition - 8 yr 5 mo 25 da active long time ago.
Rant(s): still more repairs before settlement on 20 or 21 Dec.
Rant: the cost of Nat'l gas for home heating is soaring - pity the folks dependent on fuel oil this winter.
Rave - gotravel, my idea of camping is a long weekend @ the Broadmoor: tons of fresh raspberries for breakfast.

Rant: Uncool people who can't post without venting about something.
Rave: The majority of the really coool people here at Fodors; I don't contribute much but I really enjoy coming here and reading posts from the fodors "family".
Btw bonniebroad if you read this, what part of western NC are you going to? We'll be there too.

Rave: 7 days and counting until departure for South Padre and San Antonio TG trip--I suggest jor you continue with that Thanksgiving trip!
Rave: Snowrooster - if you haven't yet, also give Edy's Grand Light French Silk a hit--also great with chocolate syrup
Rave: Hoping to raise $2,000+ for a 7th grader in our school district with lymphoma--I am directing a 5K run/walk for his benefit tomorrow (Sat) morning. Thankfully the rain came today, it will only be chilly but sunny tomorrow. Wish us well! The rant side is 4 weeks of rushed, non-stop work, but the rave overtakes the rant. Uh, did I mention the TG trip

Smokyboy, I'm going to be in Boonville, Elkin and Roaring Gap this weekend. I grew up in Western N. C.
Snowrooster - don't talk about Edy's Ice Cream. You are tempting me! The peppermint/chocolate combo sounds so delicious, and I love Edy's, in general.
GoTravel, happy camping!!! I tried a couple of times, and found that an air mattress on rocky ground was not my idea of comfort - I didn't sleep a wink.....
Muffin-eater, I've just started the weight training, in addition to the water aerobics that I've been doing for awhile now, and am hoping for good results from the combination! I think you're right... the change will be good for me.
Seetheworld, thanks for your encouragement with "my program." I hope there's a little more muscle there somewhere now.
I feel your pain about your son possibly flying the coop - so many mixed feelings!!! It's been 17 years for me, but I still remember.......
Paula, my sister had a knee replacement three weeks ago, and is doing beautifully, at the age of 70. The rehab is hard work, but she will have her life back. Best of luck to your Mom!
Indie, thank you for your encouragement on my weight program, and congratulations on running your half-marathon. Good job! So glad you enjoyed the recipe - I love ginger things, too, especially at this time of year. Was just talking with my granddaughter tonight about making a gingerbread house with her Grandpa at Christmas.........
RJW, the news on your sister is wonderful. I'm so happy for her and your family!
Kim, I'm thinking of getting tickets to the Imax theater for "Polar Express" for Christmas weekend. It has gotten mixed reviews from the major critics. Do you think a seven-year old will love it?
Thank you again, all of you, who are spurring me on, with this exercise & diet program. I am determined to have eight more lbs. off by Christmas!!! Wish me luck........
Again, happy weekend, all!!!

Oh Bonniebroad, mixed feelings for sure! I keep telling myself that all the hard work in raising him is to bring him to this exact point, but things will change. Change is not easy.
Indie, thanks for your kindness, truly!
I have to look up my favorite ginger cake recipe from Cooking Light and share it with you both. Ginger and low fat! The great thing is, you'd never know it! Have a good day

Rave: Travel to Phoenix coming up this week. Although it is for business, I'll have a chance to do some hiking, as the person I am doing business with is also a hiker. How lucky is that.
Rave: As much as I like baseball, I am secretly happy that my son's baseball tournament was called due to weather this weekend, while my husband and daughter are away at a swim meet. Need the time for other things, and get to spend time alone w/him planning for our upcoming trip to Japan.
jor: Is the trip to Texas for family? I recall your struggles w/family at holidays. If so, I wish you good judgement in making your decision. I saw a Tshirt last night while Christmas shopping that made me think of you. I hope you won't get offended, but it made my son and me laugh out loud and if I knew you outside of cyberspace I think I would have gotten it for you. It had a picture of a guy riding on a big John Deere mower in the middle of his yard which was about the size of the state of Texas, and it said, "I just cut a big one!"
Rant: I find it distubing that the people outside the courthouse were cheering and giving the jurors the thumbs up. It is not a joyful thing to convict a person for a double murder, even when you are sure of their guilt. They had an incredibly difficult and traumatic job and were sequestered while doing it. I wish people would leave them alone and let them recover from the trauma of what they heard and saw and experienced and what they had to do. They still have more to decide too. I feel for them.

Buckyeyemom, thanks for the compliment. We ended up meeting the boy last night (he's our pastor's nephew's best friend). Very nice boy. I let him take her to Starbuck's with her best friend and gave them 45 minutes. He returned four minutes late and apologized. Very nice boy.
Bonniebroad, yes, your 7 yr. old will love Polar Express. It would be a fun movie to see with the entire family on Thanksgiving. Sometimes after Christams dinner, we all head to a movie. Last year it was Peter Pan. Go and enjoy!! Lots of popcorn and candy, yes! Oops, you're in a diet. You could have the popcorn w/o the butter and a Diet Soda! BTW, keep up the good work on the exercise routine....... I watch the water aerobics classes from my weight training room, looks like lots of fun and a great way to firm up. ***kim***

hugglynn and emd, thanks for your caring. The ticket still stands but I have not made up my mind whether to take the trip to SA. I have family here and in Texas.
Emd, That T-shirt sounds halarious and its me to the T. I have a three acre lawn which takes four hours to mow and I have a John Deer riding lawn mower! This summer was really rainy so I had to mow it every four days. C
I love reading everyone's comments. Hope I din't overlook anyone. >
