Its an all rave Friday for me - my family is all doing great and I know I am blessed.
JJ5 - From your posts over the years, I know you are strong and have faced adversity in the past. You are surrounded by a good family and a good community and your faith is strong. All of these things will help see you through. You are in our prayers.

JJ5, I also wish you peace of mind and wish the best for your family.
Just in case anybody can't figure out why my bathrooms have and echo, OK I'll tell you so you can get through the rest of the day. The house cleaners removed all the robes, towels, bath towels and rugs into the laundry. They sound like public rest rooms now. Hope they are not attracting strangers.

Oh, oh JJ5....I'm so sorry that you and your loved ones have so many scary things going on. You will all be in my thoughts and prayers.
Rant: Seems medical stuff is the theme...my MIL had carotid artery surgery this AM
Big Rave: Doctor's said she came through it well but haven't seen her as she's still in recovery
Another big rave: It's good she listened to the warning signs--light-headedness and some blurry vision because severe bilateral stenosis of the carotid left untreated would have meant a major stroke or worse...
Rant: Our harddrive crashed and we lost EVERYTHING--important records, address book (email and snailmail), sentimental stuff, even my recipe files!! I feel like I lost my left arm...Be this a lesson to all: back your data up!!
Rave: DH and his siblings get along so well it's almost scary
Good health and good weekends, everyone!

Cyber hugs and positive vibes to all going through hard times!
One friend has cracked ribs - due to a MUNI ride. One friend has 1.8 mm breast cancer, the surgery is scheduled.
My fater is recovering after eye surgery! And I will have to host his birthday at my apartment - picture family members not going along! Oh, well, a typical family I guess
2 months from today I'll be back from my vacation, deadly tired, awfully jetlagged, dreaming of the next one!

Greetings, FFFFFers (Freaky Friday Fodorite Friends' Family). Will respond to all later; just checking in before work.Meanwhile, I send special good wishes and prayers for those with family and friends who are going through illness and trauma: JJ5, PM, Faina, OneWanderingJew, KLR6773.
KLR, when there's time, you should write to the hospital director, and say what happened with the medical/nursing staff--we all need reminders to see it from the patients' point of view.

So far, CalliNurse, I have done that, and I have no complaints. But that is why I directed my parents into a very small Catholic hospital with only single patient rooms. She just could not have handled the big teaching hospital that we go to 90% of the time.
They have been as kind as possible and right now she has a team of 5 doctors working out some hospice care at home if she stablizes for any length of time. She has such a mix of diseases that Univ. of Chicago wanted to use her for the literature/journals for free. She did that for awhile about 20 years ago, but can't handle the audience any more.
I've never seen a person who is and remains so diginified, with almost grace, under the most undignified conditions imagineable. But she has totally unplugged the phone, she just doesn't want to deal with it. She is smiling all the time, except when she mentions my sister. No Sicilian drama at all- totally the opposite. Almost formal grace and the staff has responded in kind.
I give you credit for doing the work. My arms are sore after just a couple of days. And the aides are terrific in showing all the tricks I had forgotten.
But they do a better job than we could for this part, and she is where she needs to be right now.

Rave: DH got his new company car today-300C with a HEMI engine. He'd had it all of 15 minutes when two different people stopped to admire it and ask him about it. Can't wait to take a spin in it.
Rave- This week a friend and I decided to take a trip to Paris in summer '07. We're well suited to traveling together as we both love admiring high end fashions and we are both workout addicts. We've done a long weekend trip together with success so I think we'll do well together for a couple of weeks. We both have outdoorsy husbands who hate cities but I never knew she was interested in going to Europe.
