Fort Meyers - Seafood Restaurant

Being a tourist the week of October 29, and spending one day in the Fort Meyer area (Sunday). Would like to dine at a good seafood restaurant that maybe has good atmosphere and still maybe under $35 a plate. Please include dress code.
Thank You;

Bonefish Grill. Dress code is casual but I would say a step above shorts and a t-shirt.

The easy part first -- dress code for virtually all Ft. Myers restaurants is "shirt and shoes or no service". You can dress up a little if you want, but I can't think of any places where shorts and polo shirts or even t-shirts won't be in abundance.

I'd probably go to The Prawnbroker on MacGregor Blvd. for fish:

Although I think my favorite is actually Snug Harbor -- sort of under the bridge at Ft. Myers Beach -- way more casual and rustic.

Or for more "special" dining, I'd do The Veranda downtown. Not strictly seafood, but a very good restaurant, and eating in the "New Orleans style" courtyard is a real treat.

Pawnbroker is a good choice too. The Veranda does not come to mind when I think of a seafood restaurant but I did have a very good snapper dish there not too long ago.

Neo, I must miss the t-shirt crowd at these places but maybe that more at lunch and not so much at dinner.

Travelagent, now that I think about it.....some of these places might be closed on Sundays. Many of the more upscale places like Cru are so be sure to call ahead to be safe. Have a great time.

Combining a couple posts above, No Name, you mention you've missed the t-shirt crowd, but our last meal at Cru, which might possibly be the most upscale restaurant in Ft. Myers, we were next to a group of 8 or 10 who looked like they came from a day of shelling at the beach. T-shirts were the uniform, and one or two of the guys didn't have on shorts, but rather swim trunks. And this WAS at dinner. I'm not being snooty here, I've seen that in Naples too. Hey, it's Florida and some people think it's all about casual and the beach.

I am surprised they were not turned away at Cru. I am sure they felt out of place there.

I don't think people who have the nerve (or should I say ignorance) to go to a nice restaurant in swim trunks and t-shirts feel anything at all -- including being out of place.

Agree with NeoPatrick regarding Snug Harbor <http://www.snugharborrestaurant.com/>. Good food, good view and reasonable prices. Also, a decent early bird menu!

Also under the bridge is "The Bridge". Great fresh seafood.

Dress code? I dress nice when I go there. They don't sell hotdogs there.

Prawnbroker has always been my favorite seafood restaurant in the area. Love it!
