fort lauderdale hotels, yankee clipper?

Hi,
I am so confused by searching for a hotel on the internet!. I know someone here can help. I am visiting Ft. Lauderdale in April and am looking for a nice hotel, very quiet on the beach with a pool. The four star resorts appear very nice but then add on extra's, some up to $25.00 a day. I am looking to spend $190.00 a night and would prefer no extra resort charges or high parking charges like Bal Harbor Resorts or North Miami. How is the Sheraton Yankee Clipper? When I search on the internet, I get the same large hotels with all different opinions on tripadvisor. There nust be a few nice places, not too old or rundown, decent beds, great pool and on the beach! Thanks for the advise firsthand.

Yankee Clipper is an average 3*hotel.Nothing great, but nothing really bad about it either. If you want a great pool, this is not the place. Only hotels with great pools on the beach are the marriott, and the Lago Mar. Lago Mar does not charge extra for parking, and I do not believe they add on resort fees. You may be able to get a standard room there in your price range. Its a great hotel-check them out at Lagomar.com.

Just wanted to add that if you call Lago Mar, ask for their AAA rate, if you are a member. Also, they have some rooms that do not have balconies that would be cheaper too. This may bring the rate closer to what you are looking for.

thanks JD! I just used priceline, trying for the Marriott, but I got Pier 66. Have you been there?
Thanks for your help!

My husband and I stayed there pre and post cruise and found it quite nice. Not luxury, but clean, fun and we wanted to be right on the beach. We had no complaints and would stay there again. Enjoy!

I have never stayed there, but have gone to the revolving lounge on the top floor for dinner and a drink-great views! You will be in a good location on the intercoastal, and just a short water taxi ride away from the beach area. Taking the water taxi around is a lot of fun-and just $5.00/day.
