Fort Lauderdale for Thanksgiving - dinner suggestions

We will be in Fort Lauderdale for five nights over Thanksgiving weekend. We'll be staying at the W Hotel. Any recommendations for dinner on Thanksgiving night? I made a reservation for Thanksgiving dinner at Seasons 52. It looks pretty good and it is offering a traditional turkey dinner option, which is not essential but nice to have the option. But we are open to other suggestions. Also interested in your recommendations for seafood and Italian. Thanks.

I live just up the beach a couple miles from your hotel. Topping this for you. Enjoy your stay. I'll defer from making restaurant recs for a variety of reasons but am sure others will be helpful.

Gee. I was about to mention by current favorite Lauderdale restaurant -- Market 17, but see that it is closed on Thanksgiving.

My second recommendation would be Truluck's, admittedly in a different category from Seasons 52, but outstanding.
Not sure about a traditional menu for Thanksgiving though and don't see it on their website.

I'll look into those for the other nights. Do you have any experience with Seasons 52 - good or bad? I am not necessarily sold on going there - just wanted to make sure we had a reservation somewhere.

By the way, something just clicked. A good friend of mine (our local restaurant expert here in NJ) swears the best meal he ever had in Florida was at Steak 954 at the W!

I've been to two other Seasons 52's. It's fine to good, but somehow never seems very "upscale to me", but more a "family dining" place if that makes sense.

Thanks for the info on both Seasons 52 and Steak 954. We were thinking we would probably go to Steak 954 one of the nights.

I realize that the restaurants in the article are in Miami, but maybe worth the drive!!

Nice list, MiamiBeachMomma, but how weird. They feature a picture of breakfast turkey hash that has my mouth watering, but I see no reference in the article for it (I may be overlooking it) and there is no credit for where it's from.

Meanwhile, I was surprised by The Forge -- my favorite Miami Beach restaurant from the 70s and 80's, but I had no idea it was still there.

Here's another possibility, especially if you don't want to drive far and want a great ocean view:

3030 Ocean, 3030 Holiday Drive, Fort Lauderdale; 954-765-3030, 3030Ocean.com

Another prix fixe option is at the newly reopened 3030 Ocean at the Harbor Beach Marriott in Fort Lauderdale. The $50, three-course meal starts with roasted pumpkin soup with toasted seeds and crème fraiche, a French soured cream. Next is the turkey breast feast with mashed potatoes, Brussels sprouts, cranberry chutney and mushrooms. Save room for chocolate bread pudding with pecans, dried cherries and spiced ice cream. For an additional $20, guests can pair their dinner with various wines.

I've eaten at the Seasons 52 restaurants in other cities and like them very much. Really like their taster dessert concept.

Not in Fort Lauderdale but if you are out and about during your five days, I really like this restaurant in Delray Beach.

I'll be back for a wedding in the spring and can't wait to return.

hey thanks for the suggestions. We are sticking with Seasons 52 for Thanksgiving. Some restaurants for the other nights we are considering:

S3
Mario's Catalina Restaurant
Casa D'Angelo
Steak 954 (reserved this for Tuesday night, since we get to Ft. Lauderdale at 6:30 pm)
Market 17

(If I am off base with any of these, please feel free to tell me)

Will check out 3030 Ocean per Dukey's recommendation.

Neopatrick - the yummy turkey hash pic is from DB Bistro Modern....and how cute that if u eat their prix fix meal, they send you home with a turkey sandwich! No there is really no reason to cook!!!

Also on the Forge...they went through a complete renovation including chef and menu change about 5 years ago. Then last year the chef and menu changed again. It's beautiful ...so much competition on the Beach and Midtown/wnywood keeps some of these guys on their toes!

The Casa d'Angelo reviews are mixed. We usually eat Italian at a local hangout which I would not even try to help you locate because it is a hole in the wall and you didn;t come all the way down here for that.

Unfortunately there are a few folks who think everything in Miami is "better" (including the crime and drugs I suppose) and they can cloud more than a few restaurant reviews up here.

Wherever you end up I suspect you'll enjoy it.
