You could try the Marriott on the intercoastal-it is on 17th st. about 5-10 min from the airport. They have a nice bar overlooking the water, and there is a good Italian restaurant to walk to called Bravos.
Embassy suites is close to the airport and they have a free shuttle.

While the Marriott and Embassy Suites are both very nice, they are a little pricey. The best Western Marina Inn has a good location across from the Marriott but it is not too appealing in my opinion. Another choice if you are looking for something less expensive might be the Amerisuites which is about 500 feet farther up 17th St. from Embassy Suites. They offer a free shuttle to the beach and the ships. In fact I even saw the Amersuites shuttle take some people over to the shopping center where Bravo Italiano is located. Another great place located in the back of that shopping center but actually on the water is Bimini Boatyard. Not inexpensive, but very good food and a very nice setting. The Amerisuites is actually on SE 10th Ave. just around the corner from the intersection with 17th St.. There is also an Extened Stay America on 17th St. but I'm not personally familiar with it. We have stayed at many places in this area on numerous trips to Fort Lauderdale. Bravo Italiano is great and we return there on almost every trip we make to Fort Lauderdale.

I stayed recently at a Spring Hill Suites (a Marriott brand) by the airport about 10 minutes away. They have a free shuttle with the first trip at 5:00 AM, so that should work for your 7:00 AM flight. The room was pretty big, split into a bedroom and living room/dining area by a half wall. It even included a fridge and microwave. Across the road was a large shopping center with quite a few restaurants scattered around. I forget the exact rate for the room, but it was reasonable.

Hi Cindy - we went for the Airport Hilton. It has a 24hr/every 20 min shuttle to the arpt and is only 2 miles away. I almost went with the Holiday Inn, which has a shuttle every 1/2 hour starting at 5am. It is about 4mls away. I got the Hilton for $99 on Expedia and I think the Holiday Inn was $79. I called so many hotels and many of the shuttles were every hour starting at 5 or 6am. I am too afraid if I miss the 5am shuttle and 6am would be too late - so I played it safe with the more frequent shuttle at the Hilton. Now hopefully I won't oversleep. Have a great trip. And yes, I am on Jet Blue to LGB. My favorite airline

I'm not sure what time the day before you plan to get there. If it's very late and time to go to bed, then the Hilton is fine, but there is nothing to do in that area. If you want to spend a little time enjoying Ft. Lauderdale then the other recommendations such as the Marriotts are good, as you can go to restaurants, or even take the water taxi to explore a bit. Another idea is the Riverside Hotel, a historic boutique hotel right on the busy Las Olas Blvd, surrounded by shops, resaurants, and night life with a nice pool area overlooking the New River. And it is only a few minutes longer to get to the airport than the other places mentioned (although you'd probably want to take a taxi -- as I don't think there is a shuttle.

I have never stayed at the riverside hotel, but they just redid it and it is HUGE. Also, has a cheesecake factory inside it. In addition Las Olas has many neat resturaunts both inexpensive and expensive. It is a nice place to stroll at night.
I can't belive Bravo is a resturaunt known by people out of Florida. This makes me laugh for some reason
