Fort Collins - should I spend 2 days?

I will be in the Denver area late June and have a little extra time - 2 days/1 night. Have travelled Colorado several times but have never been up to Fort Collins. Is it a good place to spend 2 days and what area of town do you suggest I get a hotel?
thanks

I think Fort Collins is a nice college town, but unless you know people there, what would you do to occupy two days?

Some activity at the university?

I spent four years in Fort Collins and I agree that it is a wonderful college town, but it is not someplace that I would choose as a weekend destination.

Where have you already been in Colorado and what kind of activities do you enjoy? Maybe we can make some alternative suggestions.

Ft. Collins is a lovely college town but really not a destination place. That said, if you do go there, stay at the Marriott on Horsetooth (right off of College, which is the main drag). Recently remodeled and the nicest place in town. Swetsville Zoo is amazing--it's not a zoo with animals, but a small walk through area featuring sculptures made from junk (basically). Hard to descibe but it's worth a trip for sure.

Perhaps consider spending the two days in Boulder or Estes Park instead. No more driving (well, maybe a little for Estes) and a bit more memorable.

Let us know what you decide and I'll keep tossing in my two cents for hotels, etc.

I grew up in Ft. COllins and live here now. Although I LOVE it, and think it is absolutely the best place in the world to live, I agree with the above posts...unless you would like to join my husband and myself for cocktails on one of the many restaurant patios in Old Town!

If I had an extra 2 days and 1 night outside Denver, I would head to Estes Park or Grand Lake (probably Grand Lake). There are more activities, breathtaking scenery, wildlife, and Rocky Mountain National Park. Have fun!
