food in savannah - esp. historic district

Husband and son to be in Savannah for one night - staying in historic district. Teenage son is confirmed carnivore, especially if it is grilled or barbequed. Nothing too fancy, probably not historic inn either. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Well any carnivorous teenager should love the family style all you can eat lunch at Wilkes Boarding House. He can bypass all the vegetables and fill up on great fried chicken and wonderful ham. But does anyone know if it is still open since Mrs. Wilkes died?

Another great place in the Historic District for lots of really good food in a casual setting is the buffet at The Lady and Sons. They offer all you can eat of fried chicken, meatloaf, ham, and loads of side dishes, including macaroni & cheese.

The woman who owns The Lady and Sons has a show on the Food Network. Her name is Paula Dean.
