A failed joke regarding how one sees the color change, I am blue eyed and like it, maybe brown eyes see it differently.
Oh well..

It's ok now that I have the post-it over it.

I'm going to try the post-it also; the black oval is giving me a headache (no kidding), and it is way too prominent if I am on here for any length of time. But then I am light sensitive, maybe that has something to do w/it.

I guess maybe they didn't do a focus group to see how it would go over. I hope someone is monitoring the thread to see how this thing is bothering the eyes of some of us.

...never thought I'd say this, but I liked the neon green/blue better.

What is really annoying to me is the greyish/brown and blue color change on the left.

Good news is that they got rid of the flying guy who looked like he had been run over by a truck

Maybe Fodors can coordinate their color changes with the seasons. This color would be appropriate for the Fall, I guess?

We have such CLEVER people on this forum. I just tried the post-it idea hanging off the left side of my monitor to cover the Fodor's logo, and it takes away the eye strain.

Thanks, April!

Don't care for the color scheme at all-takes me back to the 70's. It is also too bright and distracting when trying to read. Why the many color changes in the past year?

The colors are not bad , it's the combination of that HUGE black and white fodors logo that distracts the eye. it they removed that, you'd see a tremendous difference. Keeping it, makes it look like a gas station.

Suggestions from the Europe Forum: Fold a paper strip over the top of your computer to hide the new colorful logo and header Use duct tape to cover it.

I'm opting for the Post-It note fix temporarily. However, the black and white logo still shines through, so I had to layer on three Post-Its.

If I knew the German national anthem, I'd probably leap to attention and sing it whenever the new colors appear.

I had to leave early this AM because they were painting my house so haven't been on the computer all day. So tonight I go to Fodors and the new colors really shocked me. Can't say I really like it, too bright. But I am grateful for those who mentioned hanging the post-it over the black Fodor's because it became annoying in about 5 minutes!!! I would like the old colors back (can't believe I'm saying that). I do like the new home page though.

Scarlett: I have hazel eyes and the new format doesn't bother me either. In fact, to be honest, I didn't even really notice it until I came upon this thread!

Where do I fit into that "scientific study"?

P.S. I just read the other thread "Fodors Colors" where iceeu2 said "its easier for old folks to read". Well, that says it all - I know why it works for me - lol!

Hmmmmmm.....
Book cover art/graphics do not
translate well to screen art/graphics
do they ?
It's not the same media and not
"adjusted" for different media.

Heck, kids maybe us designer-types
ought to have a contest, then everyone here could vote.

Whaddaya say ?
Now, where are my crayons ?

Yes, maybe it's good for trying to get book covers to stand out on shelves, but not here for eyes (mine anyway) staring at the screen for so long.

If they wanted to emphasize one part of the screen, then why not the search feature box?

Blue eyed me preferred the more soothing lime and blue scheme prior to this one. Now, even though I want to read the threads, I find the saturated orange & yelllow headder distracts my peripheral vision.

And light grey for the previously viewed threads? Thanks for nothin'!

I hope my new Fodor's pin doesn't have the disco '70's look!

Well, we are all idiots, except for Fodor's of course. This is a tribute to Cristo's Gates. I predict that when the Gates closes in 16 days, the colors will change.

What d'ya think of that?

Tandoori Girl, that is as good an idea as any

Someone said that everyone is sooo dramatic! Of course we are! No humdrum posters on a humdrum site..not with all that color

Forget the blue eye thing, it was a joke and thanks to some poster bringing up Aryans, I don't want anyone to feel they must mention their eye color, since that was SO not what I meant.
Have a great day
I am off to the Garden Center to buy flowers!! (all colours)

I'm in agreement with the poster who said that hopefully they are monitoring these threads and will change it back to the old colors. These colors are mindboggling. The web designer whose responsible for this should be fired. Blue is a soothing, inviting color. Orange and yellow with that big black logo is killing me. I wish they'd take a poll and see whose opinion wins and act accordingly. Either way, these colors need to go!

GolfBall--you actually want someone to lose their job because you don't like their color choice?
