Tried a different book store today and found the 2006 Florida Guide. Yeah! Found my brilliant quote!!! Something like,
"I have lived in the panhandle most of my life." (sad but true) "The Forgotten Coast is suddenly being remembered. Come quickly. The panhandle as we know it will soon be gone."
Talk about profound words of wisdom...Wow! I definitely think that no one should visit Florida without reading that quote first.
GoTravel,
I found a quote from you in the Miami section. It was about the Delano in South Beach-having a drink at the bar.
It was a nice quote.

True words, Sunshinesue! Isn't it sad how things have changed so fast on the beautiful FL coasts?! But then, I remember orange groves between LA and San Diego . . . was shocked by the wall to wall development when I went back to CA as an adult.

utahtea should definitley be in ANY southwest guide book and Gardyloo at Portland too! Gardyloo was the reason we chose Portland for my honey's birthday trip! In any case, fodorites are a wealth of infomation. It was only time that fodors has fodorites in print. Honestly, I've not encountered a better forum yet!

Gardyloo is an Alaskan expert, also. A best seller could be written about Gardyloo's experiences in Alaska! But don't take my word for it, read Gardyloo's list of Top 10 Alaska to do's: http://fodors.com/forums/threadselec...1&tid=34728756

Add me to the crew who yearn to see their names immortalized on the pages of Fodors
Picked up a Fodors LA guide from the library today--Heavens and rjw_lgb_ca are quoted. Very exciting!! What kind of a drab, boring life am I living that I was thrilled to see familiar names in print? I really need a vacation...

I wonder if we shouldn't start our own "best reference" list. Even though I live in the west, I always look to utahtea's posts for advice. And MelissaHI was invaluable in planning my Hawaii trip. Maybe the Fodor's Forum should have a place where we can list our own "Fodor's favorites" of trip reports and such.

I would never consider a trip to the SW without clicking on utahtea's name and spending at least an hour or two reading posts and responses while taking copious notes.
Heck, I've already started that process for my upcoming trip to AZ!

Hey MelissaHI.
You've hit on my point exactly. It wasn't one thing you said, it was numerous points from various threads that I found when I was first starting my research, before I even started posting my specific questions.
Some of us are only semi-regular posters or occasional visitors to these forums. I don't think those of you who are regular posters know how much you are really appreciated for your diligence. There are many times when I come to the boards for help and never have to post anything because I can find my questions already answered, and it's really reassuring when I see those answers coming from familiar names whose advice I know I can trust.
By the way, the school was St. Francis and my reunion was great. Thanks for asking. Can't wait for my next trip to Hawaii.
