Fodorites in print

I was in Barnes in Noble yesterday and looked for the Fodorite posts. They are the chapter openers in the new print books.

There are 2-3 quotes from Fodorites on each chapter opening page and the website listed at the bottom of the page.

Sunshinesue in in the 2006 Florida book. Patrick (as Patrick) is quoted in several books. Saw several Fodorites I "know" quoted.

The newer books have orange spines (printed when this page went burnt orange I guess). I think the addition of Fodorite comments are in the ones with "2006" in the title. Found some orange books that don't have the new chapter opener feature.

Kinda cool to read the comments from "real" people (not that editors aren't "real people", but ya know what I mean!)

That IS cool, Starrsville! I will have to check it out. Thanks for sharing!

I was quoted in the Alaska book. Made me nervous when a fellow Fodorite told me about it, but after he posted the quote, it wasn't too bad a quote afterall. ;-)

VERY cool that BayouGal is quoted in the Alaska book! Talk about different microclimes.

I glanced at 3 books and saw several names - but didn't write them down.

BayouGal Jul 13th, 2006 03:59 AM

LoL, Starrs! You are so right. :)

BayouGal, Fodor's quoted you on this:
"Now that we're back from our two-week Alaska trip, I can say quite honestly that kayaking in Alaska will not disappoint you. The place is magnificient. My best advice is to bring barrels of money and tons of time!"

This reminds me of that scene in "The Jerk" where Steve Martin's character was so excited when the new phone books came out. He thought if his name is in print, that makes him really important. Are we all going to be like that when new Fodor's books are released? :-?

BayouGal Jul 13th, 2006 04:06 AM

LMAO, P_M!!! Quite right! Simple pleasures are the best . . . or should that be, it doesn't take much to please us simple folks. ;-)

starrsville Jul 13th, 2006 04:12 AM

P M, you are in there too. Can't remember which book though. I looked at NY, GA & SC and Greece.

P_M Jul 13th, 2006 04:21 AM

<gasp> My name is in print?? OMG, now I KNOW I am a part of Fodor greatness. ;;) WOOHOO, this makes my day!! It must be in the Greece book, since I rarely post about any of those other places. YIPPEE, I'll head to the book store this weekend and take a look. :-))

Thanks for the heads up, starrsy!!

Someone informed me that I was quoted in the Caribbean book. I'll give you one lucky guess as to which island. ;)

OneWanderingJew Jul 13th, 2006 06:22 AM

(I hang out w/famous people.Do-dah Do-dah. I hang out with famous people. All do-dah day!)

OneWanderingJew Jul 13th, 2006 06:23 AM

where did my musical notes go? Did Fodors not like my singing?

BayouGal Jul 13th, 2006 06:25 AM

OWJ, I bet you are in at least one of them! This makes me want to get to a bookstore to make a list of all the Fodorites quoted. :)

GoTravel Jul 13th, 2006 06:31 AM

What about me?!?
What about me?!?
What about me?!?

emd Jul 13th, 2006 06:33 AM

BayouGal, great idea, go right ahead and please post back to let us all know, because of course now we all wonder if we are in there

(hmmm, maybe for Sedona or Japan, but probably not).

emd Jul 13th, 2006 06:35 AM

GoT, you must be in the SC (Charleston) one. If not, you should be w/that great trip report.

The ol' 15 minutes of fame. By the next edition you're all washed up! I hope they didn't quote my running the groceries through the car wash moment.

Tiff Jul 13th, 2006 07:19 AM

"No one has ever quoted me, back to me, so beautifully."

What movie is that from?????

Hmmmmmmmmmm, OOOHHH, ok, got it, When Harry Met Sally, when they are on the blind dates but Carrie Fisher's character is smitten with Harry's friend instead of Harry, remember?

You guys are famous!

WooHoo, this calls for a new pair of strappy sandels!

OneWanderingJew Jul 13th, 2006 07:40 AM

dang, and I knew that answer before you revealed it, Tiff! My fav movie!

Now, will people remember which character said it ;)

LoriNY1 Jul 13th, 2006 07:44 AM

Oh Oh OH, I know. The Bruno Kirby character, Harry's best friend, the writer for New York Magazine. Married the Carrie Fisher character.
