Flying mid-march. Should we fly through SFO or Denver?

We are planning on flying from Southern Oregon to Buenos Aries on March 21. We have an option to fly through SFO or Denver. We are very familiar with SFO and know that there are often problems flying in and out of there because of the fog, but not familiar with Denver. At that time of year what is the Denver airport like?

It has to be a whopper of a storm to totally shut down DIA, so chances are you'd be fine making a connection. That being said, we've had a few whoppers within the last few years and with the airport being in the middle of the prairie, it's been inaccessible for 2-3 days at a time. March is also the snowiest month historically too. But that's the worst case scenario. March may actually not be so bad weather-wise in SF.

I think you would be fine since the probability of the airport is fairly remote. The most likely possibility would be a delay but as tekwriter said March is our snowest month. Five years ago on St. Patrica's day, we got about 30" of very heavy wet snow that shut everything down for a week include the airport for a couple of days. BUT nothing serious since then.

Check out the frequency of flights from either location to BA. IF you encounter travel delays, you would want to be sure you could get on anther flight out of that airport. If there are only a limited # of flights to BA, you may be a while until you can get a seat.

These days with flights so full, that could be a deciding factor.

SFO fog vs DIA snow in March? I would go for SFO I think.

When DIA closes, it seemgs to be for more than a few hours.

March is toward the end of fog season. In fact some of the best weather along the coast is JAN-FEB-MAR.

Good thing about leaving S. Oregon they probably won't even take off if they can't land in SF.
