Flying Dogs
We want to fly our 10 lb dog in the cabin in a
carrier that fits under the seats. Which airlines allow this and are they any ways to reduce the cost? Any information on how Orbitz and travelocity deal wkth this issue?

Sneak him in in your carry-on. Seriously, our negihbor works as a TSA supervisor and was called over to an x-ray machine when a screener saw what he thought was a skelaton in a carry-on. Turns out it was a live dog that a woman attempted to sneak onto a plane.

I think you have to deal directly with the airlines for this. Here's a website with pet friendly airlines and their policies I found by doing a web search.

I've always been told you aren't supposed to put an animal thru the x-ray machine. I've always seen pets requested to be removed from their kennel and the kennel sent thru the machine alone.
I have flown my dog in-cabin on American Airlines and only had to have a $50 ticket for him, as well as a rabies vaccination certificate. However, this was over ten years ago and policies may have changed since then. I agree that it's best to contact the airline directly.
