Transmeridian Airlines folds- no warning, no refunds, I'm $%^*
Flew them last month to Orlando, no probs. Booked another flight for next Sat, go to check on flights and find that they've folded as of Sept 30 and stopped flying. I have already booked the condo, invited friends, business folks, have tickets to the EPCOT Grand Tasting party, etc. Paid over 200 dollars for tickets, AMEX can only guarantee that I get 90 bucks back? On top of that, they sent NO email or phone calls to tell ticket holders about the flights. I might have just shown up at airport! And, their website is down and you can't get through to their 800 number. now, I have to buy full fare ticket, but thankfully have 1 rewards ticket on Southwest which has a FAIR FF program.Still, that's a lot, plus they don't have tickets on Sat morning, so we had to get an extra hotel night. RCI points was NO help- more on this company later. I am a platinum AMEX holder- I'm anxious to see how this is resolved. Guess I'm up the proverbial creek and am venting...care to sympathize? LOL! Anybody else left high and dry and shafted by a charter? Happened to me in Vegas once, company was behind in payments, so they scrambled to get another plane and kept us at airport for 8 hours!

My understanding is this act of Congress is still in force.

If so, then another airline should be required to accept your ticket - with a provision they can charge a service fee.
There may be exceptions, such as Transmeridian operating as a charter, but I'd check the FAA website for the full statement regarding this law.

Well, I've worked hours on this with no luck so far. Pace is flying the VE charters from Louisville, but they stopped as of this weekend and don't pick up until Feb. No other local airline flies to Snaford, I have yet to speak to Southwest about this matter- full price ticket vs the 50 dollar service fee that they say is required by law. As for the AMEX, I think I can file through the bankrupcy court for refusal to get services for payment. This is going to be an extremely expensive weekend if not!

Well, here's the update. Section 145 only applies to commercial airlines, not charters. However, charter airlines are required to put money in escrow until the flight is over, so I should be getting my money back. As for the 380 buck ticket, well at least we have one free one. Wanted to use if for SAC, but oh well. Got a hotel room on Priceline for 49 dollars.
