Planning a trip for a couple in their 20's who want a relaxing beach vacation with some activities to do during the day as well. Concerned about the weather-going the end of August. Are there any recommendations? We want a pretty hotel with good amenities.

One of the prettiest hotels, looking more like a castle created by the Medici, is the Don CeSar on St Pete Beach. It is also simply one of the nicest on the entire Gulf Coast of Florida. There are ample things to do in the area all around St Pete and Tampa Bay, so this might appeal to you.

Don't know where you are coming from or what your heat/humidity tolerance is, but August is 90+ during the day, 80+ low at night. And remember those pesky hurricanes. But do agree with DonCesar. Also love Sanibel on the west coast.

If you want the Fort Lauderdale area, the Marriott Harbor Beach Resort is right on the beach and has great pools, bars , and restaurant. It is very close to the fun night life district of Las Olas and also not too far a drive from the exciting, and trendy South Beach area.
