Flights from La Guardia on this Tues morning
I just tried to book Supershuttle to La Guardia airport for this coming Tues morning (before Thanksgiving). My flight is at 7:30am, and the shuttle wants to pick me up at 2:45am. Is this really necessary? They told me that there is a huge rush at the airport at this time and also, that security is very busy.
I don't particularly want to leave this early. I thought that the ticket counters don't even open up till 5am or 6 am.
Please do advise if it is really necessary to leave this early?
Thanks,

WHAT?!?!
Where are you starting, Montana??
If you're staying in Manhattan, do NOT leave before 5:15am (and I wouldn't leave my apartment until 6:00, personally).
Reserve a car service, www.dial7.com and you tell THEM when to pick you up.
Good grief!

I'm sorry, but I'd have to say that two days before Thanksgiving I'd sure want to leave midtown before 6 -- which could (with a couple of traffic slow ups) put you at LaGuardia at 7 -- just half an hour before the flight! Even if you got there in a half hour, that's only one hour before a flight on the second busiest flying day of the year!
But I agree there's something strange about 2:45. Perhaps the car service if fully booked at reasonable hours and still wants your business?

My guess is that there are so many reservations that the Shuttle will be packed and that is why the very early time for pick up. I'd also suggest getting a service car or take a cab, but I would be AT the airport no later than 5am, because it is going to take forever to get through check in and security, so you will need to be there VERY early.

Find out if Supershuttle wants to pick you up and 2:45 and then either drive around with you in the van picking up others for hours, or pick you up, drop you at a consolidation site where you will wait for another van or bus to take you to LGA - there is no way it takes over 2 hours to get directly to LGA at this hour - my guess is that you would not be taking a direct route.

The SuperShuttle picks up at numerous hotels - and apparently wherever you're staying would be the first. They're giving you that time so they can spend 2 hours driving around Manhattan picking up other passengers.
Suggest you consider one of the regular shuttles you can pick up at Port Authority or Grand Central. Just grab a cab there.
Or - if it were me - I would get a car service, like Carmel or Dial 7 (and if you want one call NOW - since they will be frantically busy as well).

Like I said, I personally wouldn't leave my apartment until 6am, because I live in the UES and ususally go door to gate at LGA in 45 minutes.
At that hour, security will not be bad; it's not Wednesday, it's Tuesday.
From midtown, I'd reserve a car at 5:15 if I'm west of 5th Ave, 5:30 if I'm east.

Wow. Gekko, you really do like living on the edge, don't you? And I'm assuming you aren't talking about checking any luggage if you "usually" make it from your apartment to the airport, through check in, and through security plus the distance to your gate in a grand total of 45 minutes!
I agree with GoTravel.

No, I just don't like wasting time sitting in airports.
45 minutes, door to gate, includes checking in luggage. With the kiosks, it ain't rocket science.
For a 7:30am LGA flight, leaving midtown before 5:15 is lunacy (except for masochists of course).
From my UES apartment, I'd leave at 6am, be there at 6:25, and be at my gate at 6:50 at the latest. And I'd be cursing the wasted 20 minutes I'd sit there waiting to board.
