Flight to Florida for tomorrow....

My mom has a flight tomorrow from Boston to Tampa.

Think its gonna go ahead as scheduled??

I think they do not want to go now-- but should they wait till last minute to cancel incase the airline cancels??

Its only a cheapo ticket on SONG but would be nice if she didnt lose out on the $$.

Not sure what to do!
Thanks!

Rebecca

My opinion only - I would wait - it is likely the flights will be canceled.

Just like with a blizzard, you'll have to get updates from the airlines.

I heard that even Disney World is already scheduled to be closed the entire weekend (an employee was told not to come in for that reason). But I have not been able to confirm that with Disney.

Good luck, all you Floridians. I'm so worried about my friends in Orlando and family outside Ft. Lauderdale.

From the Delta.com website:

If you were scheduled to travel September 1, 2004 through September 7, 2004, to, from, or through the following Florida cities on Delta, Delta Connection®, Delta-coded flights, or Song®, Delta's low fare service, you may make changes without penalty if you change your ticket by September 30, 2004 and complete travel by March 1, 2005. The travel window has been extended to help protect the value of your tickets and to provide you with flexible options for future travel.

Yay! Thank you everyone.

I have to say. I love this website.

You folks are so helpful and really great. I made my dinner plans last night with help from here and my companions asked - where did you ever find this place? (great outta the way place)

I try to explain about Fodors.com travel talk but they dont get what a great place it is with well-travelled, knowledgable and helpful folks.

thanks again.

A heads-up for anyone traveling today: Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood International (FLL) is already closed and flights are cancelled (as per www.fly.faa.gov and www.aa.com). I'd look for other airports to start closing and battening down the hatches in the next several hours....

On NBC news this morning, they reported that both Orlando and Miami airports would close at noon today, and advised that for information you call your specific airline carrier and not the airports themselves.

Orlando International (MCO) just closed at 2:00 PM ET; Melbourne (MLB) closed at 1:30. Miami and Palm Beach are still open right now, but I'd expect them to close by this evening.

The Weather Channel's website is now updating this information for anyone planning travel to Florida (www.weather.com).

American Airlines has announced that any tickets for travel to/from/through Florida and the Bahamas (plus other nearby areas) that were for Sept. 2 to 6 will automatically be good from travel up to Sept. 30.

Latest from the Weather Channel: The airlines are shutting down operations at Miami International (MIA) at 6 PM ET-- if you know anyone who's trying to get out, this will be the last chance until Frances passes. Tampa MAY shut down operations depending on weather conditions.

Best of luck to everyone in Florida-- I'm thinking of you!
