Hello Everybody,

My first wedding anniversary will be on Dec 25, 2012.

I live in Long Island and my wife is from Germany.

Any ideas on how to celebrate? Where to go?

I am on a budget ($100-$120) so please advise accordingly (My anniversary gift to her is excluded from that budget, means I have a separate budget for it).

To me, it is really important that how we celebrate a day and not only one dinner or lunch so any ideas regarding it?

If you tell us something about her interests - or something she usually like to do but does;t have the time - it might help.

Oh - and since your anniversary is Christmas - with most things closed I assume another day is an option.

Well, she likes Nature, Water, Amusement parks.......

We got married in Germany, where everything is literrally close on Christmas but we still managed to get a hall etc.....

Thus, we really want to celebrate our first anniversary in New York where there are more places open on christmas

You might also be able to spend some time ice skating in Central Park as well.

There's a German restaurant in NYC called Rolfs that gets decorated over the top for xmas. i dont think the food is very good, but go at least for a drink. http://rolfsnyc.com/www.rolfsnyc.com...lfs200506.html

Make sure to walk Fifth ave. and see the store windows dressed for xmas. ord & Taylor on 38-39 st. Is always great and just a few blocks from Bryant Park where there,s an ice rink. Ice skating in Central Park is another idea.

Many good NYC restaurants have prix-fixe menus in the $35 to $45 range (before beverages, tax and tip). You could check Zagat or other reliable sources to see some of these, then call them to see if they offer such a menu on Christmas Day (assuming they're open).

Another idea to keep the budget under control is using savored.com to get a significant discount, sometimes as much as 30% on food ������ ������������������ (be sure to tip on the undiscounted bill). We've recently visited a very good Italian place called Cacio e Pepe (182 Second Ave, betw 12th and 13th) that honors savored.com reservations. It's known for its namesake dish, homemade pasta twirled in a hollowed-out wheel of Romano cheese withe fresh cracked black pepper. It might be worth it to call them (212-505-5931) to see if they're open on 25Dec.
