First timers planning trip to Hawaii - need help with logistics

Glad you have your tickets! WHATEVER you do, don't miss reading the link Dusty (above) sent. He gives the most detailed information available! We are also planning a trip to Oahu and the Big Island and his advice is so valuable. My advice is to spend a day at Pearl Harbor and surrounding area of Wakiki but have a condo on the north(some great beaches here, and quaint fishing villages) or northeast side of the island (Polynesian Cultural Center, Kualoa Ranch). You're away from all the crowds and big city. I have always had good luck with VRBO.com and recommend it.
