Finger Lakes Wine Country
Greetings!
Has anyone toured the Vineyards of upstate New York? Any recommendations, tips, or comments would be appreciated.
I noticed their web-site mentions a Murder Mystery tour/game along the Keuka Lake Wine Trail. I'm thinking it might be fun for our teens to seek the clues, if we are sipping the wines. Has anyone on this forum ever participated?
Also, how long would the drive be to Toronto from this area?
Thanks in advance for any help!

Beautiful back country roads, marvelous scenic lakes and some great little restaurants, you may want to check out Hammondsport at the south end of Kueka lake--there is a murder mystery paddle boat cruise during the summer--you might want to visit in the Penn Yan area as well---large Amish and Mennonite population--excellent interactive restoration of the Mormon roots in Palmyra--trip from the South of Keuka Lake to Toronto should take about 5 hours--or if you drive like a Canadian 4.5 hours--good travel

I haven't done the m/m tours, however I LOVE touring the wine trails -- especially Keuka Lakes. You'll have a great time. Make sure to stop at Dr. Frank's! The teens can sample grape juice that many of the wineries offer (sounds juvenile, I know, but its something!, and the juice is awesome!!).

Greetings to you too!!
Last fall we toured the Finger Lakes wine region. Specifically, we went up one side of Lake Seneca and down the other. There were four of us and we stopped at almost every winery heading north. It didn't take long to realize that we had to cut back on our wine servings or else!! The wines were really good and we bought a lot to bring - as it turned out we should have gotten more cause they were great over the holidays. That evening we stayed up at the top of Lake Seneca, Seneca Falls (I think) and had dinner at The Castle. People had raved about the Castle's food but unfortunately for us, the food and the service left a lot to be desired. It was the only bad choice of a really great 3 day weekend. Next morning we got up and headed down the other side, stopping at every winery we could find (Anthony Road, Logan Ridge, etc). For us the red wines, Cabernets and Merlots were not quite as good as Californian wines but their white wines were very good.
I would love to do a murder mystery dinner up there sometime!
