film/videos & airport security?

I have heard that the new airport security can now damage film and video tapes. I would like to take some family videos with me on a trip. Will they be damaged if they are in my checked luggage? Has anyone had problems with undeveloped film in a carryon or in checked luggage?

Are you talking about previous videos that you've taken and just want bring with you to show someone? Xray machines not affect these.
If you're talking about unexposed film, always pack that in your carryon luggage, never in your checked luggage.

I am talking about both. I want to bring some previous videos to show someone. I want to pack those in my checked luggage. I also want to bring my SLR camera (as a carry on) and it has some unexposed film in it.

Then, I guess I've answered your questions. Under no circumstances should you put your camera and any unexposed, undeveloped film in your checked luggage!
