Allowing phones on planes would have qualified as one of the worst ideas ever- right up there with reclining seats and smoking on board.

Hey everyone should be allowed to recline their seat provided that the seat moves forward the same amount as the chair is reclined so that the knees that are affected are not the knees of the person behind the recliner!!

People who recline in coach with an adult sitting behind them are selfish, rude [expletive deleted].

I agree Gekko and I always ask them to put their seat up.

Gekko - I couldn't agree with you more! I got stuck behind one of these rude people the last time I flew to Hawaii. That idiot was a pretty big guy, he put the seat back the very minute he sat down in it and left it that way the ENTIRE flight! I would have said something except it seemed he and his wife wer having "issues" and I was afraid he'd bite MY head off if I asked him to put his seat up. To top it off I had a window seat - I usually always have an aisle seat - which made it worse. Then the guy next to me slept - and snored - through the whole flight. Needless to say - I was THRILLED beyond belief when we landed. Even the rain that greeted us in Honolulu didn't matter!

The selfish stupidity of some people never ceases to amaze, does it?

I sat across the aisle from a snorer on a JetBlue flight from JFK to TPA. I kept waking him up & finally a flight attendant asked him to move to an empty seat in the empty back row.

Regarding reclining seats, most of the domestic planes I have been on lately recline abut 2 inches, if that. Just enough for me to take the pressure off my neck and spine (sitting bolt upright is decidedly painful) and no one has complained about this. However, transcontinental coach is another story. Airline companies want to make money, clients want to fly cheap! A fatal combination if you are expecting comfort. They need to get as many rows of seats in the plane as possible. Believe me, they study average postures, body heights, leg lenths, etc. (Maybe some of them work for Torquemada and have studied torture, for allI know.)The best solution, at least for us, is to choose coach Plus when travelling overseas. It's a great compromise.
