Of the places I've been to:
1/ New York City, the citiest of cities in North America
2/ Los Angeles
3/ San Francisco
4/ Seattle
Places I think I'd like if I went to visit, but have yet to see:
San Diego
New Orleans
Places I like, but not in the top four:
Chicago
Phoenix
Boston
Cities I don't care if I ever see, and have not yet visited. (at least long enough to count)
Philadelphia
Pittsburg
Miami
Atlanta
St. Louis
Nashville and Knoxville
All the above are pretty big places.
Favorite little city is Naples Florida.

I grew up moving every few years. This conversation reminds me of the joke where the guy asks the old-timer what kind of folks live in the town up ahead. Old-timer asks him what kind of folks lived in the last town - same kind just ahead. The point being that your experiences completely influence your perception.
Personally my favorite vacation spot is as far north on the Outer Banks as possible. My butt is parked by the pool or on the beach. Any sightseeing might be done on the way to or from vacation.

ok, here's my 2-cents:
Favorite (In no particular order):
New York (I live there and it has everything you can ask for!)
Boston (Have lived there, love the old world charm)
Hyannisport (Where I got engaged, so for memories sake)
Washington DC
Least:
New York (I know it's in my favorites but sometimes it is my least favorite place to be on those bad days)
Detroit (No comment)
Newark, NJ (too New Yorkish without the charm, but has plenty of bad attitude)
Atlantic City (nothing to do but gamble and hello- I'd rather spend my money on something worthwhile

Faves:
1. Portland, Oregon, hands-down: livable, beautiful, laid-back, the perfect size, Seattle and S.F. are close
2. Boston -history, architecture
3. NY, NY - anything for anyone at any time.
The worst:
1. Grand Rapids, MI - cheesy furniture stores, not much else.
2. L.A. - a hell-hole
3. any town in Idaho - scary, backwards people
Sorry if I offended anyone...

Favorites:
1. San Francisco
2. New Orleans
3. New York
4. Charleston
Loads of character and culture and great for walking.
Least favorites:
1. Houston
2. Dallas
3. Las Vegas
Houston is too smoggy and conservative; Dallas is too snooty and elitist; Las Vegas has too much cigarette smoke.
I definitely prefer either coast and am not crazy about the mid-west.
Thanks for your time.

Favorites in no order:
Dallas--I live here & the people are great, lots of cultural activities, volunteerism, convenient airport to get places, sports, no state income tax
Washington, D.C.--how can anyone go to D.C. and not be proud and excited about the U.S.
San Antonio--great city to visit
San Francisco--beautiful, multi-cultural
Don't have a dislike list because each city is unique and it is up to me to find the good.

1. Burlington, Vermont -- small city with the magical appeal of a large one. Great shops, restaurants and views of the Adirondacks. Minutes away from Stowe and Sugarbush! A great college town, too!
2. Orlando - so much fun for all. We love Disney because it is fun for every age.
3. Washington, DC because of the great museums and the wonderful walking.
4. San Francisco, need I say more?
