Fav hotel in New Orleans French Quarter
My group of "mature" friends will be in New Orleans for a few days in June. What's your fav pick for a 3 plus star hotel in the French Quarter? Anyone stayed at the Renaissance Pere Marquette on canal street?

Canal Street is not a preferred location for a hotel, but it is acceptable. If you want to be IN the FQ, consider hotels that are on streets that are part of the FQ.
I used to stay at the Inn on Bourbon and thought it was fine. Big advantage is parking. But if you don't have a car, there are MANY good hotels that you can find by going to any of the N.O. web sites or just search for "French Quarter Hotels" on this Fodor's site. Good luck.

Second vote for Inn on Bourbon. If you want to people watch, the Bourbon Street facing rooms with balconies are the best - the downfall is that the rooms are noisy at night. Rooms facing the courtyard are much cheaper and a lot quieter. The hotel is also centrally located in the Quarter and you can walk most places.

Hotel Montelone has a very european feel and is nicely loacted at the edge of the quarter.
We usually stay at the Dauphine . . one block off Bourbon and pretty much in the middle of the quarter.
