How about New York? My 12 year old daughter loved our recent trip there. We stayed on Times Square, saw a couple of shows, took a horse drawn carriage ride in the park, shopped at Macy's, and ate at several really cool/funky restaurants. We also saw several tourist sites - my daughter enjoyed the American Museum of Natural History (I think thats what it is called) the best.
Have fun!

I am planning a trip with my 16 yr old son to San Diego in April. I was there 3 yrs ago on business and absolutely loved it. There is so much to do...both of you will love it....all along the coast the beaches are different. There's the beach with all the seals, there's pacific beach with a boardwalk, shops, etc., there's ocean beach with hippies and then there's the old mission area...and then some great parks for hiking.

How about a bicycle tour? You could organize one of your own or go on a professionally led tour like http://www.vbt.com/TourDetails.cfm?T...19&CountryID=1

I went on many vacations with my Dad for 30 years...our favorites were horse back riding at ranches in Phoenix Arizona and North Carolina...We stayed in cabins, took care of horses, explored, etc. I'm sure these kinds of places are all over depending where you are....not sure what your interests are but have fun !
