I'd suggest reading about vacation destinations first on here or from traveling bloggers on http://e-marginalia.com. That's where I usually get my reviews

tlagenbach..you've been around the world but never to California?
Wow!
Hawaii as well?
From Tu tu tun lodge in Oregon, San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, CA,
Mount Ida lodge in Avalon, CA, Surf and Sand Laguna Beach, CA..
You are missing out on some of the finest places on the west coast!

Hi ksucat - I know , it is sad that I have only been to Los Angleles. Have been living as an expat for 12 years so spent loads of time in asia (as it was so close) and europe. Just now trying to explore the US and really just am inexperienced at where to start. Will NOT give up though, and last summer we ventured to oregon. which was a big deal for us - new territory!
Keep your ideas coming... out west, suddenly now intriguing. Not california, as we want to explore some other places, such as maybe arizona?? will keep looking.
thanks everyone!
