Family trip through New England

Hello! My husband, 5 year old and I are trying to plan a little getaway through New England. We have from August 14-21. We are leaving from the Cleveland Ohio area. I've been to Gloucester Mass before and would like to go back for a day, I would like to do a day or two in DC, I can skip NYC we go there pretty frequently. We want some fun off the beaten path of our normal trips. Thanks for any help!

Sorry - but DC is not New England. New England is from CT north.

What about Boston, Cape Cod, Maine coast, mountains of NH or VT?

DC is a great location for a vacation - but a completely different direction than New England.

Yes I realize this. My son has asked to see the mummy at one of the museums, so my plan was to either start or end the trip up the coast from there.

Are you driving from Ohio? Adding DC to an 8-day trip will be difficult. Check Google or MapQuest for distances.

Yeah we might be. I am trying to find some flights that aren't crazy expensive. I may just stick to the DC area and do Boston, Ocean City, and Assateaugue Island.

Still no good, in my opinion. Boston is 450 really congested, unpleasant miles from DC.

You need to DC area *or* Boston area, not both.
