family reunion vacation
summer 2009 we want to assemble our family for our 50th anniversary. There are 9 adults and 10 grandkids ranging from age 22 down to 2 yrs. We are not cruise people. Grandfather wants mts. and adventure, but we have to remember we have 8 young ones under 15 yrs. Any suggestions for a week?

Try a Dude Ranch. I've seen a lot of family groups go to dude ranches and they never forget it. Most say it was the best vacation they ever had. All ages will love it. I recommend CherokeeParkRanch.com. It's got everything. Not too fancy and priced on the lower end.

Agree with the idea of a dude ranch, in Montana or Wyoming or Colorado.
Rich ranch in Seeley Lake-Montana could certainly arrange you : horseback riding, hike, fishing...
If not, what about Glacier national park : hikes of diferent levels, boating, fishing, scenery,...
Another option could be the black hills : Custer, Deadwood, Badlands, ...
Your base could be Custer Park at the Legion Lake resort and from here drive to attractions(never too far) and hikes, fishing,...

Sunriver Resort in central Oregon fits the bill. We do a trip there every summer with extended family and it suits all ages. Lots of mountains and adventure, but also right near Bend which is a great town. There is definitely something for all ages!

Dude ranches get VERY expensive---espeically for 19 people!
I second the nomination of Sunriver---you can rent 2 or 3 houses there. We have only been there for skiing, but it looks like a great summer resort too---swimming pools, golf, extensive bike paths and mountain bike trails, river rafting, and mountains very close by.

Park City, Utah is wonderful in the summer with lots of activities. It is only 35 minutes from the Salt Lake City airport. Hiking, mountain biking, fishing, golf, festivals, great restaurants, etc. You could rent 2 homes that could accommodate all of you. Rates in summer are as low as $250/day for private homes and the location is fairly central for those three starting points.
