That it happened does not surprise me. What astonishes me is that some people think it is their "right" to fly even if they (or their children) are incapable of behaving appropriately (SAFELY) on a plane. How can people think that an airplane and its passengers should be forced to endure disruptive unsafe behaviour?

Obviuosly this family has a lot bigger issues than being thrown off a plane - as in a pack of kids with some sort of behavioral disorders _ or else just raised by a pack of wolves.

If she can't control them when they're this young what will they be like in 10 years?

I'm suprised they were let back on any flight at all.

The family did not cooperate with the flight attendants, and should not have continued on. Safety is paramount.

If they felt marooned without money, it's their fault for not being prepared.

Something tells me this must have been really awful to get them booted off the plane. I really pity the other passengers, especially those seated near them.

This family seems to feel very entitled.

Mom should have been charged for two seats. I really pity the person who had to try to sit next to her. Such attitude.

Flying is a priviledge, not a right.

Good for Southwest. This doesn't sound like excited kids as much as it sounds like uncontrollable kids presenting a safety issue. How sad that the mom doesn't seem to get that it's up to her to control her children.

Somewhere along the way, the sense of entitlement has become distorted and tarnished. Very sad. Very selfish. No apology to the other passengers and flight staff, just a whole lot of poor me.

Anytime I am delayed, I remind myself, "how blessed am I that I have cash on hand to get a snack, a book to pass the time, imagine if..."

Well they are the imagine if. Sadly, Mom and Auntie seem oblivious to the fact that they were delayed by their own demise. Mom admits the kids were out of control, yet claims no responsability to her own demise.

Blame the system, blame the airline. If only she would look within and see where in lies her own blame, and reconcile that.

Very sad.

My daughter is an airline employee, I am just incredulous at some of the hair raising tales she tells me! And her passengers (on a legacy airline) are supposedly more experienced/sophisticated travelers than those on the short-hop Southwest flights.

Yes, we like to bash airline service on Fodors but when you see appalling stories such as this it's hard not to be sympathetic to the employees!

Better to send the trucks and the cameras and the reporters to cover this story instead of addressing the true state of the union.......

That TV reality program "Airline" was all about Southwest Airlines. The unruly family in today's video is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of bad behavior. I couldn't watch a second episode of the program, because the drunk/smelly/pompous/stupid passengers that had problems with the airline were so obnoxious. It became apparent to me that these were passengers that would have been Greyhound denizens years ago, when they couldn't afford a plane ticket. Maybe higher fares will bring back that kind of stratification.

While I feel bad that one of the kids is autistic, I believe the family has to accept that, depending on the child's function level, perhaps long plane rides are just not possible and certainly not when there are other children present with their own disabilities requiring attention and supervision. And mothers who travel "without any money" (as she claimed) should be charged with child endangerment. What if flights had been delayed and she had to buy meals for her kids?

And how did they finally get to Seattle? Was she able finally to control her kids enough to take another flight? If that's the case, she loses the argument that it's all Southwest's fault.

I wondered about the travelling with no money part. I completely get being poor and not having money to spare - been there, done that. I also had enough sense not to travel if I couldn't scrape together a contingency fund.

I like the pregnant sister missing teeth segment- it gives it that homey, hill-billy rant charm.

Who is running Southwest out of business??? Southwest's financials are in better shape than any other US airline.
