Family hotel in ABQ?

My husband and I will be travelling with our 4 children in Tamaya, Taos and Durango for 2 weeks. Our flight leaves ABQ on Sunday morning at 11:30 so we will drive from Durango to ABQ on Saturday. We are looking for a family hotel with something big enough for 6 people. We are too many for traditional hotel rooms, including suite properties, except for those that have two room suites like Homewood (if necessary, we can book 2 regular rooms).
We will probably have Saturday afternoon in ABQ and may do the tram. Any suggestions on neighborhoods or specific hotels?

There are lots of places near the airport that would work for you [2 adjoining rooms]. All the typical chains are there with free shuttles to airport. Courtyard, La Quinta, Holiday Inn, Hilton, etc.

There are hotels near Uptown area which has shops and restaurants. These would be in a good location near Uptown: Sheraton; Marriott; Hyatt Place.

When are you turning in your rental car? That would play a role. If you were going to turn it in on Sunday, staying at Uptown would be ok. If you are returning it on Saturday night, I would stay near airport. There are restaurants near the airport hotels that you could walk to if you returned your car.

Embassy Suites just off I 25 is really nice too.

Thanks, Deb. I was wondering about Uptown. There is a Homewood Suites that says it's Uptown on Arvada, NE. Do you know anything about the location? We won't return the car until the next morning so that gives us some flexibility.

Homewood Suites is in the same area as the others I listed in the Uptown area. A convenient location with upscale shops and restaurants nearby. I don't know the hotel first hand, but the area would suit your needs, I think.

The Homewood Suites is directly across the street from the new ABQ Uptown shopping center. Good location IMO. Next to the Homewood is Hyatt Place (used to be Amerisuites). My folks stay there when they visit and it's always been nice. Convenient location near the freeway, many restaurants close by, and right in the center of town. Uptown is about 10-15 minutes to teh airport.

The airport neighborhood is not that nice.

Thanks for the tips. I'm going to book the Homewood Uptown. It sounds just right for us.
