Fairmont or Gainey Ranch Hyatt

My husband and I are planning a trip to the Phoenix/Scottsdale area in July and plan on going to a baseball game and shopping. We want a hotel with a great pool-waterslides, etc. I am thinking about the Fairmont and the Gainey Ranch Hyatt. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I have not stayed at the Fairmont, but I've stayed at the Gainey Ranch Hyatt a couple of times and highly recommend it. The pool area is very nice--a lot of room, I believe there is one slide, and there is a little "beach" area. The service there is wonderful and the rooms are nice. If you are wanting to splurge, stay in a "Casita"--a large freestanding suite on property. These are WONDERFUL! The restaurants on property are all good, too.

We've stayed at both. The Fairmont has a more upscale feel. I don't think you will find the type of pool you are looking for in Scottsdale. IMHO, the resorts are geared for adults.

So where else should I look if I am not going to find it in Scottsdale?

The Fairmont has 3 or four pools - one of them has 2 waterslides that go pretty fast - no day at Six Flags but good for a few quick twists and turns. I lost my sunglasses when I went down - way faster than I expected!
