Extensive one month itinery to USA

Hi Forum Members...
Planning an itinery as mentioned above, a month long, for an extensive USA tour. We love history, heritage, culture, food, fun, vintage and modern, all elements..requesting help from all of you to shortlist from the below and fit it in our travel plan. Also suggest best commutations and suggested days for each of these..
1 New York, NY
America’s biggest city is home to Times Square, the Statue of Liberty, the Met, Madison Square Garden, the Empire State, Harlem, Brooklyn Bridge and Jay-Z.
2 Chicago, IL
America’s third city boasts some serious skyscrapers, top museums, live blues, the Cubs and the Bears, and those deep-dish pizzas.
3 Springfield, IL
Immerse yourself in all things Abraham Lincoln at the Illinois state capital, now a virtual shrine to the great American president.
4 St Louis, MO
Head south to this old city on the Mississippi, and take the train to the top of the Gateway Arch, a momentous feat of engineering.
5 Route 66
Travelling southwest from St Louis to Oklahoma City be sure to take the Americana-rich remaining stretches of the most iconic US highway.
6 Santa Fe, NM
As you continue west on I-40 across New Mexico, detour to the state capital, a glorious ensemble of Spanish adobe and baroque.
7 Grand Canyon
I-40 cuts across Arizona via Flagstaff, gateway to one of the grandest, most mind-blowing natural wonders in the world.
8 Las Vegas, NV
Around four hours’ drive west of the Grand Canyon lies America’s playground, a confection of mega-casinos and pool parties in the middle of the desert.
9 Los Angeles, CA
You’ve made it: watch the sun set over the Pacific Ocean at Santa Monica Pier or wacky Venice Beach before soaking up the sights in Hollywood
Florida – Keys, Miami, Orlando
Carolina – Great Smoky Mountains, Charleston
Atlanta, New Orleans, Memphis, Nashville, Savannah, Austin, Houston, San Antonio, Grand Canyon, Phoenix, Santafe, Texas, The southwest

Perhaps you can give us a little more info about yourself & your plans.

Are you a family with young children, retirees, youth with no attachments, wealthy middle aged travelers, ...

Avid outdoor adventurers or city dwellers with a taste for fine museums, history, and culture, or perhaps big time party animals who are looking for some serious late night fun.

How do you prefer to travel? Rent a car for a month and road trip, fly from city to city then rent a car in more open areas?

What is your daily budget, including $ for hotel, car/plane, food, & fun?

Was this copied from a travel brochure?
J62 has asked the questions we need to know. I think flights are going to be a part of your plan.

I agree Gretchen, sounds like OP cut and pasted from a guidebook or brochure.
I'd drop Route 66 (most of it does not exist anymore and has been paved over) or just drive the part between Arizona and California. I'd just fly from Chicago to LA, or Phoenix or Las Vegas and rent another car there. Although Santa Fe is worthwhile if you can work it in.
What time of year?
Venice Beach is way past its prime, IMO. If you insist visit on a weekend.

When is this trip? Are you only interested in cities? No National Parks?

Well you have enough places there to cover a 3 to 4 month trip. And what's with all the cut and paste from tour brochures? People here know way more about the places listed than you, for some weird reason, decided to add to the names on your list.

Agree you need to tell us:

Who/how many you are
What time of year you plan on coming
What kind of budget you have
What your interests are (activities, special interests, anything beyond the 1 or 2 top places in each city - and why only cities and nothing of the outdoors/national parks - is this deliberate?)

Sounds as if you are giving advice about those places, not asking for opinions or help with an itinerary. Are you taking a trip? Did you take a trip, so you already know and have opinions?

You have way too many places listed for a one month itinerary!

What exactly is your question?

I can sort of understand numbers 1-9, but what is this part at the bottom? That makes no sense.

Florida – Keys, Miami, Orlando
Carolina – Great Smoky Mountains, Charleston
Atlanta, New Orleans, Memphis, Nashville, Savannah, Austin, Houston, San Antonio, Grand Canyon, Phoenix, Santafe, Texas, The southwest

The OP sorta sounds like the announcement they used to make at Portland's Union Station: "Northern Pacific Train #26, The North Coast Limited, now boarding on track 4, for Pasco, Spokane, Missoula, Butte, Fargo, Minneapolis, St. Paul, Chicago, and intermediate points with connections to all points east."

If I were to recommend places to see in the USA: New York, Boston, Washington DC, Charleston SC, New Orleans, Chicago, Grand Canyon, Zion NP, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Big Sur.
Of course there are many other beautiful spots, and with a month you are going to have to pick and plan carefully.
