Seh, there is no special bargain area, when you search for a hotel in a specific city for specific dates you pull up a list of hotels, and if Expedia offers a bargain hotel it will be the first one on the list.
I did it just to help you, for October in San Francisco, here is the address:

Hi,
I've booked several times using
expedia and had great results. I
haven't seen their "bargain" hotels
though. I have booked their "featured
hotels" and gotten excellent rates, better than travelocity.
I have also used Hotwire which tells
you the hotel name after you pay and
it was fine. I got the downtown Hilton in Portland for $69.
in August.

Not with Expedia Bargain but I had one bad experiemce using Expedia. I booked my airline tickets to St. Vincent/Bequi using Expedia. When I got to Barbados I was supposed to take a local airline to St. Vincent, well I was informed that that carrier no longer flies to St. Vincent!! On the ticket Expedia writes "you will be notified of any intinerary changes" Helloooo! I think this qualifies! I eventually worked it out with the help of Air Jamaica, but had to stay 2 extra days (not a bad thing) because I had to also arrange to get back home. Fortunately, Expedia did refund the 2 day hotel fee so I forgive them and have used them since.

I am going to San Francisco in October and decided to give the bargain hotel option a try. I asked for a 4 star hotel in the Fisherman's Wharf area. Expedia booked us at the Sheraton for around $109/night. We haven't gone yet so I can't tell you the outcome but so far, I'm pleased with the situation.
