European grapevine moth quaratine
I hate to bring it up, but I've read a couple of short news atricles regarding a quaratine being instituted for part of the Napa valley due to the discovery of the european grapevine moth. I have not been able to find an article explaining the quaratine. On top of the the damage to the vines and grapes, what affect will this have on the ability of the vinewards to continue to offer tours and tastings in the affected area. I pray tfor the growers here will be none.

This will not affect the tourist industry. It will required growers to jump thru more hoops to keep this pest contained. Most grapes in these areas get crushed locally. Plant material, equipment etc has to be monitored, cleaned and inspected to keep the pest from spreading.

This is a serious threat to the local grape growing industry in Napa, Sonoma, and Solano counties. The quarantine is to prevent the spread to other parts of California. The moth has caused widespread damage in Europe.
I've got a trap in my backyard and so far no moths have turned up but one was detected in Kenwood late last month. Here's a statement from Sonoma County about the current status of the EGVM:
